On the official site, they're calling Captain Marvel shazam. That is really really bad. what are your thoughts?

It's confusing to me. Although I guess not a big deal.

I always thought that it was his name, I"m not a comic fan.

DC changed his name in the 70's or 80's because of copyright with Marvel Comics I think.

I think the Captain Marvel comics coined that word.  That being said i think its the stupidest name for a character in Mortal Kombat EVER.  Thats saying a hell of a lot.

In the comics when a character is talking to him or referring to him he is called Captain Marvel.  However due to Marvel owning the rights to the name "Captain Marvel" and having a character of that name, DC is not allowed to title any of their comics "Captain Marvel" instead they call them "Shazam", "Power of Shazam", "Trials of Shazam", etc.

This legality also lends itself to other merchandising ventures like toys, t-shirts, and presumably videogames.

I honestly had no idea who Shazam was until I heard about him being confirmed in this game.
