So my friend lately has bought an NES and SNES and has almost made me guilty that I should buy one. Is it worth the money to buy it and a few games? Do they games have enough replay value?
Should I get an SNES or no?
"Eh, emulators? And if they are not your thing then just buy one.Totally ruins the experience IMO.
"
Emulators still aren't perfect anyway. I booted up DKC on SNES9x and it looks like crap compared to on my SNES and I can't figure out why. On the other hand, now that I've grown my hands HATE the old SNES controllers. They're too tiny :(
If you can get one for a decent price AND some of the better games (you'll never find things like Chrono Trigger) I would go ahead and buy one.
"Yeah if I can't find any descent games when I go to buy it then I will hold off."I'll let you borrow some.
Yes. The SNES hosted some of the best games ever, EVER. I got mine for like $50 at a local games retailer.
Only if there are games you know you want to play that you can't get on Virtual Console. You do have a Wii, don't you?
The SNES is an excellent system for RPGs among other games. Most noted SNES games:
Earthbound
Chrono Trigger
Secret of Mana
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Illusion of Gaia
Breath of Fire
Breath of Fire II
Final Fantasy III (aka VI)
Final Fantasy II (aka IV)
Tactics Ogre
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Tetris Attack
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario World
Yoshi's Island
Harvest Moon
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time
Donkey Kong Country (All three)
The list goes on. SNES has quite a lot of gems on it, but unless you yourself find these and other titles appealing, don't get it.
"The SNES is excellent.Sparkster? Really? I mean, no Chrono Trigger, but by all means, Sparkster.
Here's what you pick up:
Super Mario World
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
The Legend of Zelda: A link to the past
Super Metroid
Kirby Super Star
Sparkster
"
At this point, almost no, it would probably be easier and more reliable to just download the games off of Virtual Console. I mean sure I know they don't have all of the classics yet, but most of the big names are up there already!
Probably my favorite system of all time. If you can find good games for it considering the good ones are always the hardest to find. if you can get that for a decent price, you will not find a better bang for your buck opportunity. if you are cheap i would recommend just downloading the roms. Also you could by a Wii and just download the games from the VC.
