In preparation for the brand new $10 mission pack that arrived for Ninja Gaiden II today, Ninja Gaiden II players on Xbox Live were met with a brand new patch today to ready the game for the new missions.

But players who have accepted the patch are reporting a big problem which may force Microsoft to do some overtime Friday work.

The new patch contains a game-breaking bug that enacts in the hallway after entering the giant black door, on the way to a bossfight in Chapter 14. When the screen fades out to play the first cutscene, the screen gets stuck on a black screen while the player's controller permanently rumbles. There is no workaround.

All Xbox Live patches are required to go through a certification process that can take up to two weeks.

The only workarounds for the issue is to refuse the update if it already hasn't been downloaded and play offline. If the update has already been downloaded, clear the cache, deny the update, and play offline.

There has been no official comment yet from Microsoft or Tecmo about how the game-breaking bug slipped by certification.

IGN reports that the Patch will be back up by Monday.  I don't own the game so I don't care.

Ironically I'm RIGHT BEFORE THAT DOOR. And I got the patch. I was curious why it kept locking up. Yeehaw. Guess I'll just wait till they fix it.

So clearing your cache works just fine, as as there's not really any online component anyways it's probably the way to go. Excelsior!

I do have NG2 and do play it religiously...unfortunately this patch definitely does crash the game after the big black door at the middle of chapter 14.  Also I noticed that this patch not only affects just that one area...it seems to have affected every cut-scene...Freezing during cutscenes began at chapter 9 and continued all the way to the known chapter 14 freeze.   Guess I will not be finishing my Mentor Karma run today...terrible

The only fix I have seen work for the Cutscene freezes is to immediately skip them...but there is definitely no skipping the one at chapter 14, I have tried everything.

I have the patch but I am nowhere near chapter 14, im actually  in need of help

How do I beat the sliver eletric snake in the new york level? I cant even hurt it.

Ah that boss,he was hard for me for a while,then I turned the console on the next time and got him the first try. You gotta just get distance and constantly shoot his face dead on with fully charged arrows for the biggest damage(hitting other parts of him with do dmg,but not much) and thats basically it,while focusing on keeping your distance,and staying away from him so you don't get electrocuted by him. Of course its a bit harder to do than explain,once you get Ryu's movements down right ,and time your dodges with LT+A at the right time,you'll get it.

Also(almost forgot) When he sends the little fish things at you in a barrage,you can do one of 3 things,single handedly target them also ahead of time with your Bow to kill them before they're sent after you- Use your basic Y mash attack with your staff to constantly hit them down rapidly as they attack you(you will take some damage though) or the best strat is using your Nimpo to become invulerable when they attack( of course this degrades from your overall karma score at the end if you care about that)

 sorry for the extra long post,hopefully that helps a bit,ninja gaiden is always the type of game where explaining is only a minimal effect and most is left with the player to execute it properly,good luck!

Yea i'm in the middle of chapter 10 and my 360 freezes during a certain cutscene. Tried lots of things to remedy it but nothing has worked so far. There is however a topic related to this on the official xbox forums so at least the problem is well known and hopefully a fix is in the works. Till then guess I'll have to get playing something else =(

Team Ninja really failed hard with this one.  This is coming from a huge Ninja Gaiden fan, too.  The gameplay itself is stellar, but the game is riddled with so many technical issues it's ridiculous.  I haven't even downloaded this patch since I heard about this and have been going on a shmup tear lately.

Fix your damn game, I want to play it some more!  ...and take half those incendiary shuriken ninjas out of Master Ninja mode!  ...and fix the fucking camera!  >:(

I download the new patch and the game seems to run ok for me.  Played mostly the mission modes in the new DLC. 

They took it down and re-uploaded the fixed version the other night.  You got the good one.

My game freezes up on the cutscene in the middle of charpter 10 evertime.  I even bought back the game to Toys R Us  to get a new copy of Ninja Gaiden II and still happen to me.

They better have that new patch by monday.  

Im having the same Chapter 10 Cutscene freeze. As Bill O reily would put it, Thing fucking sucks!

To guys still having the problem...

First, delete the DLC if you have it.

Then, clear your Cache.  (Google it if you don't know how)

Then, re-download the patch and/or DLC.

Yeah I got boned pretty hard by this patch. I got to the giant black door. Didn't play for a week or so then got the update and tried to play. It sucks but I just downloaded the Mission Mode and started doing that which makes it not "as" bad as it should be that Tecmo broke the game.

Is this still giving ppl problems?

I'm pretty sure this was fixed ages ago.
