.. And I was looking for some games that would test out my computer, ie games with good graphics, and good gameplay.
Now, I know that there area lot of good PC games coming out this year, and I'm waiting out for those, but in the mean time, I just need something to hold me out until then.
I've got a 2.2GHz processor, and 3GB of RAM and a X800 nVidia graphics card (I think...)
Do you have any suggestions for a fan of RPG and FPS games (that, ideally, are not on the console. Chances are I'll have already played them)?

"Team Fortress 2 free weekend. Go test it out, it may not have the best graphics, but its a really fun experience."i forgot about this :P
"Team Fortress 2 free weekend. Go test it out, it may not have the best graphics, but its a really fun experience."I'm getting it from Steam now :)
But does that mean that it's free to download this weekend, and then we can keep it forever?
Or when the weekend's over, do I just get kicked off the servers?

I think it's worth the buy, but that's up for you to decide.
I heard that Crysis was good for graphics and all, but the story was pretty weak, is that true (to those that have played/completed it)?
I'm psyched for whenever Diablo 3 comes out. Could be a good while from now, but still, it's a game that I'd upgrade my computer to play.
That, and DC Online.
" I heard that Crysis was good for graphics and all, but the story was pretty weak, is that true (to those that have played/completed it)?No way. Crysis didn't win Gamespot's best FPS game of the year award for nothing. Even the multiplayer, hated by many, can be good.

" No way. Crysis didn't win Gamespot's best FPS game of the year award for nothing."Yes but, is this not the same company that tried to shove Kane And Lynch down our throats?
And that, year after year, keeps on telling us that "this year's Madden is the best yet!" when it just seems like it's the same game, just a bit prettier, and has different names on the players.

"jkmetal said:Yes, that is what I meant."X800nvidia card? Wut?"Yeah, I think he/she meant ATI X800."
And I'm a he. (Sorry to get your hopes up, Bomb Squad.)

Your ram is fine, what kind of processor are you running?

"
And it has an Intel Quad-core processor, at 2.4GHz.
I loved The Witcher and it can run on average systems and medium settings, all the while playing and looking great. I reccomend it.

If you are looking forward to Diablo 3, then definitely get Titan Quest. It is a available in a "Gold Edition" for $20 and it includes the Expansion pack Immortal Throne. The game is a lot of fun both single or multiplayer and should run fine on your current videocard.
Their is going to be a big update for The Witcher in September, but the update will be free if you purchased it already. It is a quality title.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. got better with the updates/patches and may be something you'd like since you are a fan of FPS and RPGs.
Crysis: Warhead will be out soon and can be pre-ordered for less than $30 on Amazon. Seems like a great deal.
You can preorder Warhammer:Online from Gogamer.com and they will give you a key to get into the open beta. If MMO's are of interest to you this might be worth it.
Mass Effect on PC is great if you haven't played. Best game I played this year.
Thanks for the tip on Titan Quest, I'll see if I can pick it up sometime soon.
I thought about waiting it out for the new Crysis game, but I had doubts about my Processor's speed, as it can only run at 2.4 GHz, and it says on the minimum requirements that it needs no lower than a 2.8 GHz processor.. But does the fact that I'm running quad-core affect this at all?
And all these numbers and letters coming after the graphics cards (like 8400GT, 6800 GT) make no sense to me, I mean, I thought I was getting a pretty good graphics card, but apparently, it can't run Cyrsis, and everyone's saying its a hunk of crap!
Crysis is multicore aware, so having a quad should help in that game.
The nomenclature used for graphics cards can definitely be confusing. For nVidia, the first number (6xxx, 7xxx, 8xxx, 9xxx etc) generally has referred to the "generation". Therefore a 9xxx card is a newer generation than a 8xxx. However with their latest cards they changed the naming again and now we have the GTX280 at the top of the line.
GTX's have usually been nVidia's top card model in a given line, but the have also released GTX Ultra cards which are usually faster clocked versions. GT's are usually one step back from GTX's, and GS cards one step below GT. There have also been some GTS cards. Confused yet?
GX2 cards are essentially two graphics cards in one - a 9800GX2 is basically the equivalent of two 9800GTX's in SLI.
My advice would be to pick a card based on your budget (if you decide to upgrade) and then go to some sights like www.anandtech.com , www.tomshardware.com, and www.firingsquad.com, and check benchmarks of the cards AT RESOLUTIONS THAT YOU PLAN ON PLAYING at. This is very important and will help you understand where that particular card fits into the grand scheme of things.
BTW, I checked and www.amazon.com has Titan Quest Gold edition in stock....
Hope this helps!
"If you haven't played it on 360 you have to give Bioshock a crack. It's 1 hell of a PC game!"I would, but the minimum requirements for it is a 2.4GHz processor, a processo that mine only just scrapes by the skin of its proverbial teeth...
Although oddly, the recommended requirements say that it should have an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. But I have a quad-core, which is more powerful than that... Hmmmm.....

Processor speeds aren't particularly important for game requirements. The main thing is your GPU, then RAM.
