What do people here think of Crysis? And does anyone care about Crysis Warhead thats coming out?
Personally i thought Crysis felt like a bit of a tech demo. Its almost like Crytek were just showing off how amazing they could make a game look. Unforunately they forgot to add decent gamplay as well. Not saying Crysis is bad, but it terms of gameplay it felt pretty weak when compared to Call of Duty 4, FEAR or Half Life 2.
Performance in the game isn't great either, even on a high-end PC. But the thing that ruined it for me where the Aliens. They just weren't fun to shoot.
Crysis
Game » consists of 9 releases. Released Nov 13, 2007
As Nomad, an elite soldier outfitted in a state-of-the-art Nanosuit that gives him superhuman abilities, infiltrate a North Korean-held island to rescue captured scientists... and face a reawakening ancient evil that threatens the entire world. Crysis is well known for its high system requirements and top of the line graphics.
Crysis? yay or... no
Its really good. I used to think it was a pretty average FPS with nothing going it for it but pretty graphics. However, I soon realized that I was playing the game wrong. You see, I was just shooting my enemies and killing them off using the guns. Then I began to experiment and kill them off in different ways. If you really start to implement the physics into the game, then you will be rewarding with a truly entertaining experience. Its so much fun to kill them by throwing them off cliffs, running them down, destroying the tower they occupy, bringing down the roof, etc. I loved it.
Loved it, and I have a computer that can run it decently. It's more than just a tech demo, I don't know why many people think it lacks in terms of gameplay (to each his own I guess). It's a much more tactical and satisfying game if you play on Delta, imo.
Recently bumped the specs of my gaming PC, so I popped Crysis back in for another go.
Like other PC games, to truly enjoy it you have to have the equipment to run it well enough to play (depending on how lenient you are in graphics, I guess you could play on lowest settings). Once I got it running at my desired levels I really started to enjoy it. The suit powers gives it a difference from other shooters (Half Life = Physics/Gravity Gun, F.E.A.R. = Slow Motion, etc. etc.), and you can really mix things up with taking out enemies. So far the story is non-existent, but meh it's got guns and shit.
I'll probably check out Warhead, as from what I've heard it's supposed to run even better than the original Crysis.
absolutely, if you like FPS, this is the game to get, better then any other FPS last year except for HL2 EP2 and STALKER imo...I would put the first 2/3rds of the game better then anything with it's sandbox nature, the last third of the game was a bit of a letdown due to it turning into a much more linear game.
still the best looking game out there too
Overall i think it was a great game. Multiplayer is a little lacking but thats not what it was intended for anyways.
I personally think it was the best shooter in 07 and even the best shooter in 08 if farcry 2 doesn't hold up the fact that you could approach a mission/camp any way you want to according to your play style made it one of the most innovative shooters ever. Having the best graphics ever helped a bit too :P
I love it. It looks good and is perfect when you just want to shoot and blow things up. Also i like the story because i am a sci/fi guy and Crysis is a sci/fi game. I think that's one of those things that many people forget or don't realize when they buy it.
Just completed it last night actually and I loved it, although that ending just screamed sequel to me which was actually really annoying as I know thats now a couple of years down the line.
"crysis is one of those games I don't even think about. I don't have a good enough PC to really play anything."I know how you feel, i had a 6600gt a few months ago.. could barely run it on low settings at 800x600. Once i got a 9800GTX though it was like night and day.
I really like it, but it does kind of feel like a tech demo in that the story wasn't very appealing. Also even though the game is an open world, there was no point in travelling around because the enemies only spawned near the objectives and there was no incentive to check out other areas. Hopefully the new expansion pack that is coming out soon will fix some of the problems with the game such as adding a better story and actually giving the game some substance.
Its a blast to play, the physics are fun as hell, the gameplay can be as intense as a good action movie sometimes...
But you have to have a computer powered by the core of the sun to run it decently. I refuse to turn my settings below mid-high, so i get around 25 fps or lower.
I've already reviewed it, but to sum up my feelings of Crysis, I'd say it is a solid game, but aside from the graphics it is all rather generic and average. The plot was all too predictable and felt like something out of a B-rated sci-fi action flick.
To me, the nanosuit felt like it could be a good idea, but it'd make the game just way too easy at points. I was glad that it was all fairly streamlined though- using the suit and customizing weapons never really took you out of the action so you didn't have to fudge with menus all the time.
I enjoyed Crysis the whole way through. It was like playing an A action movie, so it was great for what it was. Definitely looking forward to Warhead.
Crysis really pushed up demands for what graphic cards can do, thus meaning stronger cards are coming out and so are better quality games. Also since the newer cards are coming out the older models that can play direct X9 games perfectly are becoming cheaper. All because of this game. I like it.
The game was an average shooter, but it was enjoyable. If you didn't crush an enemy under a tree, you played it wrong.
Nay. Amazing looking game, and they did a lot of things right - but I just flat out didn't enjoy the gameplay, never got into the whole:
- Cloak
- Kill
- Cloak
- ???
- Profit
I seem to be immune to graphics. Like, running on high, I didn't care how it looked. If it looked like shit, I don't think I would've noticed.
It's fun while it lasts. Which, for me, was about 5 hours.
