So with the trailer out on the series on tubes, lets discuss. Who watches the watchmen?
Watchmen.
Looked interesting to me even though I have never read the watchmen. I'm a sucker for superhero movies so I'll check it out
Watchmen is, in my estimation, the best comic story... ever.
And, unlike some Watchmen fans (and Alan Moore), I am looking forward to the film adaptation.
Yeah this movie is going to kick some ass. The graphic novel is really good, so I hear. I am going to read it soon.
My fear is that Snyder, while good at cut-and-paste jobs (read: 300), isn't terribly adept at creating his own consistent visual style. He's like an author who hasn't cemented a confident voice.
Watchmen will be good, I'm sure. Or, at the very least, a passable adaptation, but I don't think it will capture and/or encompass the multi-faceted themes of the graphic novel. Doctor Manhattan will surely vaporize some dudes, but will the real psychology behind the quasi-culture of masked vigilantes be explored?
I've read that the length Snyder is aiming for is just over two hours. I'm steadfast in believing that is far too short a time to do anything else with this material sans blow up stuff.
"i plan on getting the graphic novel because the trailer caught my attentionGood luck, my friend. It is the third best-selling item in all of Barnes & Noble as of Thursday morning, and as of Wednesday afternoon, the publisher was out of stock.
"
Good trailers go a long way, I guess.
I've read the graphic novel 3 times.
It's the Dark Side of the Moon of Comics.
Any major bookstore will have a copy.
It is beyond anything you've read in comics, and I recommend everyone pick up and read this book.
"i plan on getting the graphic novel because the trailer caught my attentionYou won't regret it; the book is utterly fantastic.
"
i really want to read the graphic novel. when I saw the trailer i was like "holy craps that looks awesome"

"Hopefully the movie will not be a bomb. I hate when franchises that I like get turned into horrible video games and movies. Hopefully there will not be a licensed video game version of this movie. So sorry.
"
The trailer was fucking cool but I don't have any impression yet of how good the movie is actually going to be. I have faith in Zack Snyder though, as his previous two films weren't bad. I'm certainly looking forward to how it turns out. In the mean time, I'll need to be picking up the graphic novel.
I think a lot of people who aren't familiar with the source material are going to go into it expecting an action movie, and hopefully they'll be pleasantly surprised by what it actually is.
Taking into consideration the average intelligence of the public in general these days, I'm gonna go ahead and guess they'll stand up, throw poop at the screen, and walk out of the theatre.
Can't wait to see what they do myself, it's such a great story. Hope they fit in some of the comic book that the kid at the newsstand reads. That was a truly disturbing tale.
"so is this the avengers movie? or am i way off as usual. If you're usually this off, wow man, just wow. :)
"
Anyway, not being a dick, it's a 12-comic series that has nothing to do with any Marvel franchise. Go buy it and read it, it's awesome.

i'm never right...
btw: is your avatar a fleshlight :O
"They are making a episodic brawler of a prequel to The Watchmen. It will star Rorschach and Nite Owl and they will be physically fit to fight. I want it to be good but I know it will be horrible. Please don't fuck this up.You just know they're gonna make it cel-shaded.
"
Never heard of the comic or graphic novel since the trailer. It looks really weird. Like a cross between Batman and Marvel comics.

LOVE THE TRAILER. Fuckin Loved the hell out of it. Reading the comic now. I've heard about it for AGES but never picked it up. Lookin forward to a great movie. Can't wait to finish the book.
BTW he said his cut so far is three hours. With a supplemental DVD of the pirate comic to be released. And so far theirs a rumor that UNDER THE HOOD will be a documentary, again released seperate from the theatrical film.
"can someone explain the premise of the Watchmen?
like you can summarize Iron Man by saying hes a multimillionaire playboy that fights evil in a metal suit
"
Someone is mysteriously killing former members of a group of super heroes and Rorsache, a vigilante hero himself, aims to find out who is behind it all.
