Would you rather have a game with a only a great single-player mode, or only a great multi-player mode? I'm not really sure. For me, single-player modes are usuallly more memorable, but multi-player modes are different every time. What do you guys think?

I get alot of memories from multiplayer, I think I like MP better... cause it can be so fun sometimes, and I mean Split screen not online, tho online is good too. but singleplayer is alot of fun, just once you beat it you dont always want to play again.

I have to go with multiplayer. Real people makes a game so much more memorable. The reason why I have so many nostalgic memories with games from my childhood (which were predominantly single player) is mostly because I played them with other people. Single player makes for some memorable stories, though. I find that they are rarely as good in the gameplay, however.

Single player with co-op might be the optimal compromise, eh?

Why does it have to be one or the other?
Give me good fucking well thought out and told single player campaign, ideally longer than 12 hours or so, anyday.

For me, it's dependent on two things: the games' respective modes, and my mood.

There are times when I want to play striped down, bare bones Capture the Flag, and then there are times when I want a hyper-immersive Campaign a la Half-Life 2.  I don't enjoy playing online with a lot of the games' communities, though, so I find myself relegated to single-player much more often than multi-player.

You know what, I should take back my answer. Single player is more memorable.
