Why do you like Reggie?

I don't get why people like Reggie.  Granted, I don't know much about the guy.  But I was watching the interview with Geoff Keighley over at GT and he came across as really really slimey.  Like if he didn't get a decent education and work for Nintendo, I could totally see him as a used cars salesman.  

I'm with you, why do people like him? Just to let you know, some people hate him now due to e3.

I used to like Reggie. But that was before I knew that most of what he says is a load of bullshit.
Honestly, I think he tries to do good. But he shouldn't promise things when he know he has no say in it whatsoever. Like how he promised there would be many hardcore games at E3.

Because he beat Cammie Dunaway at sword fighting.

He seems like a nice guy.  Its just that this year there wasn't much to talk about, but in the past on the show Gamehead, he was more serious about the Wii coming out.  He wasn't so smiley and happy becuase the Wii prints out money.

No, this guy seems like a complete used car salesman.  I agree with the person above that said that.  And after I saw the video of him at E3....well...let's just say, Game Over.

I think he's a great speaker.  You can't really fault him for Nintendo's business decisions.

Yeah but there is more to it then that, actually sounding like you give a shit, having some personality and being able to move people a bit is important, and IMO I dont see much of that in Reggie. Still looks like a nice guy though. :P

I will admit, he has 'slimeball' written all over him.  But without his PR expertise, Nintendo today would be seen by the American public as a weird Japanese thing for nerds.

Reggie is so bad-ass not even his chin can express it...

I used to like him. Especially at E3 2006. But now i just think hes a bit of a tit. Especially after E3 2008. Cammie Dunaway is a whole different story though. Shes just insufferable to watch and listen to.

Nintendo have completely lost touch with their hardcore fans. The only thing at this years nintendo conference that interested me in any way was the possibilities of the Wii MotionPlus in hardcore games. Genuinely can't think of anything else.

When he first hit the scene it was like a breath of fresh air.  he was hard edged and wanted to put Nintendo back on track as lets face it, the gamecube was a dismal failure.

Reggie represents the evolution of Nintendo, and the company's resurgence to glory. He appeared in a time when Gamecube was trailing in 3rd place, and was a clear, strong speaker who assured the public that Nintendo was the way to go. We all know the lines: "My name is Reggie, I'm about kicking ass. I'm about taking names, and we're about playing games."  Now that the Wii has pentrated the public consciousness, it's Reggie that the public are seeing as the man behind it all. I guess those who like Reggie do so mainly because he represents Nintendo winning again.
