    Overview

    Helgen is a village in the imperial province of Skyrim. At the beginning of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the player is a prisoner being taken to Helgen by imperial soldiers in order to be executed. However, just as the player sets his or her head on the chopping block to await the executioner's axe, a dragon swoops in and attacks the village. In the chaos, the player manages to escape, but Helgen is completely destroyed.
