Relaxing, with a bit of challenge. 0
There's something about PixelJunk Eden, and its expansion Eden Encore, that draws attention to it. The art style is unique, and it turns heads. It's a simple enough game that people are willing to stop for a few moments and try to figure out how the game works; after a few moments, it seems simple. Pop pollen bubbles, grab pollen, tag pods, get more plants to grow so you can progress in the level, grab the glowing spectra to finish it. People who have never played the game pick up the controller...

Whoever thought that adding a timer to this game was a good idea should be shot 0
The review deck above pretty much sums up my feelings about this game. It is a potentially excellent game, almost totally ruined by what is possibly the most incredibly stupid design decision in the history of video gaming -- making the levels timed. What is otherwise a relaxing, exploration-based experience is completely ruined by the fact that you only have a few minutes to finish every level. The Grooviest Platformer of the Decade. 0
When I started up PixelJunk Eden after acquiring it in a steam sale, I was treated to a beautiful, minimal splash of plant-life. In the background is a mellow, bassy melody, some plucky synths, and some whirrs and beeps. I'm reminded immediately of Flower, but that's not going to last long. Click a mouse button, and I am introduced to my player character/avatar/whathaveyou: a little seed-looking Pokemon-like thingy. I love it. I was totally sceptical about it after playing the demo the other day but it’s all just clicked into place now. I totally get it and I love it. PixelJunk has come up with so fairly interesting concepts but none even compare to Eden. Eden has a very unique art style with vivid colours and a protagonist that would feel completely odd in any other game. The GRIMP as it is called is a very acrobatic creature equiped with a swinging tool called it's silk. The art design of this game is exquisite, and the gameplay is unique. I appreciate what I think they were trying to do here.I enjoyed the first two or three gardens, once I got the hang of the gameplay mechanics, they were easy enough to be almost relaxing. But as the difficulty ramped up, all I was left with was frustration and a headache. I never liked gardening before Eden 0
This game is beautiful to look at, pleasing to the ears, and addictive as psychotropics. I think that says it all. The game just has that great balance between fun, frustration, and a sense of achievement (trophy?) that keeps you going for one more level. In PJE, you are a tiny bug-like gimp who can basicly jump around and spin on a silk that you form as you jump from one plant to another. Simple, artistic, and engaging gameplay with Pixeljunk Eden 0
I wasn't a fan of Racer and slightly enjoyed monsters, but Eden has definitely gotten my attention. The jumping and diving mechanic (triggered by the moving the control down) were immediately frustrating. I kept falling short of my targets or overshooting. What became more frustrating was that I was running out of time. However, I began to get the hangs of things right after getting the first spectra and things have gone rather smoothly. Pixel Junk Eden is one of those rare and interesting games that keeps you thinking about it after you're done and makes you always want to do better because you know you can. The emotional curve that I went through when playing this game was initial frustration and complaints.
