Omlette du, fromage. Bringing back "Best Part/Worst Part" for some reason
Omlette du, fromage. Bringing back "Best Part/Worst Part" for some reason
PS4. 13 Sep 2019 - 3 Jan 2020, 36 hours
Best Part: Nailing big Jacobs sniper shots with FL4K. Some of the throwback sidequests
Worst Part: The writing. Almost every other sidequest
===
I really don't know what to write about this game; base gameplay wise it's pretty fun, but for some reason it gets old way faster than the other games in this series? Maybe it's the god-awful writing (even by borderlands standards) and all the planet-hopping breaking the flow of adventure and all the throwaway forgettable zones and all this area completion crap that doesn't really add anything and maybe I've made my point.
I couldn't help but think "man, BL2 was way better than this" throughout most of the game, and when according to last year's list that game is my least favourite in the series that tells you something.
BL1 >>> BL:TPS > BL2 >>>>> BL3, I think.
ICEBORNE
PS4. 6 Sep 2019 - 13 Jan 2020, 40-something hours
Best Part: Switchaxe's grapple > discharge spam, the new longsword anime shit
Worst Part: None of my friends bought the game :(
===
This game is tight, though I haven't played it in a bit because I have no one to hunt with... and safjiva being the BiS weapon for pretty much everything. Grinding Lands is cool but everyone calls it that for a reason lol
PS4. 9-16 Feb (Plat on 22nd), ?? hours
Best Part: Getting around the adaptive aim the hard AI has
Worst Part: It's a movie game
===
This game's pretty cool, even if it's kinda shallow compared to the goat RC3 and a bit too segmented because it's a movie game.
+ LEFT BEHIND
PS4. 19-22 Mar, 15 hours
Best Part: The main characters. Me not giving a fuck during the end section
Worst Part: Starting my first playthrough on hard
===
Cool game. Or should I say, very good TV series because I found the gameplay itself to be just pretty ok; it was a lot better after I realised I wasn't having any fun on "hey have half of the resources you would normally get" mode and changed it on my second session. Found Left Behind to be kinda meh as an addon, although the "sic the two bad guy types against each other" mechanic should have been part of the main game since that was the best part.
Not sure if I want to buy and play Part II when it comes out yet, might just watch it instead.
PS4. 10-14 Apr, 41 hours
Best Part: Chapter 9, 200%
Worst Part: Not knowing when (if ever) Part II will come out after that ending
===
The R stands for Rebuild.
Felt that now familiar "this game is pretty good, but it might be too AAA for me" for a long while playing through this... until I hit Chapter 9. That part was so good, goddamn. Also the jury's still out on how I feel about the ending of the game.

UPDATE - 20 Apr, 82 hours
100% Play Log boys. Even though I'm still not a fan of the tonal shift at endgame, I can see what they were going for.
See you in FF7R: 2.0 You Can (Not) Save Aerith
PS4. 31 Mar - 3 May, ?? hours
Best Part: Zeta, Zooey, the amount of content
Worst Part: RPG Mode, which is most of the content
===
I'm a C Rank Zeta, buff pls
PC. 15-20 May, >12 hours
===
Not writing anything about this. Started to support a stream I watch and ended up beating the story on Normal before running out of the energy you get from levelling
PC. 26 May, 111 minutes
Best Part: Hard to single out, but probably the secret reveal
Worst Part: Banging my head against stage IX for half an hour
===
This is a good little game. It's 100% women in suits so it would've been my GOTYAY about 6-9 years ago lmao
PS4. 5 Aug - 1 Oct, ?? hours
Best Part: Game's fun!
Worst Part: Game's jank! Sometimes netcode/physics fucks you over
===
Counting getting to the end of the first season's progression as beating this game. Platinum's impossible so we'll see how long I play season 2...
PS4. 18 Sep - 1 Oct, ?? hours
Best Part: Hidari's art, my favs Hatsuho and Souma getting more screentime
Worst Part: Game jank, less focused than Kiwami
===
Actually beat the story on 24 Sep, but am counting the "Beat Chapter 7" trophy as beating this game. This game does some interesting stuff! But suffers from being too big and loses a lot of the charm that it had when it was more of a straight MonHun ripoff.
Speaking of MonHun ripoff, did you see how MH Rise is just a Capcom version of this game lmao
PS4. 4 - 6 Oct, ?? hours
Best Part: Crash's Flashback Tape Stages, the WOAH meme bit
Worst Part: The last third of the game, the unending completionist grind
===
Wanted to 100% this before writing this up, but... it isn't really worth it. The first third of this game is great, exactly what I would expect from a modern day (and good) Crash game. There were a few things that were kinda BS in the stages (hidden/off-screen boxes, weird timing on parts) but it wasn't a big deal. The middle third was alright, but the small issues started piling on more and more, and then the during the final third the stages started becoming just annoying to beat, let alone 100%.
A good game for a casual playthrough, but a never-ending masochistic nightmare to get everything in. Then they even had the gall to add "1-life perfect run" relics and yeah, enjoy grinding through that one space planet stage for 15 minutes just for your shitty alien mount dude to miss a box because it controls like shit
