Sekiro. Blech. The only modern FromSoft game I have never and will never finish. What a confused, bloated, badly designed mess of an experience.

And yes, I will die on that hill.

Sekiro wound up being my favorite From game behind Bloodborne. But there are some really big difficulty walls throughout.

But hey, Jan one-shotted some of the toughest Bloodborne bosses so maybe he'll be a master samurai as well?

Lovely, FromSoft's best game and the only one in a long time that's actually hard. No overlevelling or having someone beat it for you.

Sad I missed this live, can’t wait to watch the VOD. I loved Sekiro and have been debating replaying it, but the backlog is fierce. Maybe this series will scratch that itch.

Sekiro is one of my favourite From games. I know it's divisive but I love the combat changes Sekiro made and wish elden ring had included more of them. Having a signal that tells you if an attack is unlockable feels much more fair to me than the trial and error that parrying in ER involves. The posture meter is something all souls games have, but sekiro is the only one that clearly shows it.

Jan blazing through that last fight like it was nothing truly shows the master gamer he is. Excited for this show!

@therealturk: it's incredibly designed. Just very unforgiving if you don't meet the game on its own terms.

This is my favorite FromSoft game specifically because of how FUKIN SICK it is. Honestly it has a cool factor that the others don't and that combined with the visuals and narrative are what made me keep coming back to this despite how punishing it can be. I'm so stoked that Jan is digging it.

@kiwin: It's an incredible game of theirs that will always be overshadowed by the souls games proper because this was just an action game and not an RPG. I think it's combat is some of the best in a game out there, so much so I can't even touch a lesser version like Star Wars Fallen Order without wanting to play Sekiro instead.

What a sweet, sweet follow-up to the Bloodborne Identity! Glad to see Jan tackle my favorite FromSoft game.

this will probably be my all-time favorite fromsouls game if only because the boss fights feel like you are a powerful warrior in cool fights against powerful foes instead of a gymnast with a big sword rolling around and occasionally poking when its safe (love all the games tho don't get me wrong) i hope Jan enjoys it.

Jan taking out that mini boss at the end gives me the relief of "Jan gets it". If you get Sekiro, and what the game is wanting you to do it's not very hard and can be a ton of fun murdering everything in the most bloody ways. Until the combat clicks though, there can be a cliff that feels impossible to get over.

This isn't just the best FromSoft game, it's one of the best games of all time. No game has ever made me feel as cool as this game.

OMG yeeees!! Probably the best combat mechanics of any game. Its sooooo satisfying!

God I love Sekiro so much

I JUST finished Sekiro a couple of weekends ago. This game feels amazing. It's a challenge, but satisfying one to keep learning the fights (I did look up guides to do the longest route for as many bosses/mini-bosses as possible). I'd just do a few rounds a day with hard bosses and chipped away to minimize tension.

That all said, I'm excited for you Jan. This was a fantastic opener, you already kick butt with the first few minibosses. Looking forward to more!

Sekiro is amazing up to the difficulty cliff that is the last boss. I'm bad at games though so I hope Jan just goes in and stomps him.

Sekiro is an incredible, albeit at time brutal, example of teaching mechanics and concepts in real time during stressful situations. It's basically a Metroid game by From. I love it so much.

One of the few games where the term masterpiece fits.

Hey Jan, I’m going to politely ask that you try to not feel the need to rush in the future, and read those tutorial pop ups.

The ones you skipped during the boss fight at the end of this video introduced 1) the only things you CAN’T parry and 2) how to upgrade your health.

I mean, they really didn’t matter for how you demolished that dude but it will most likely come into play later.

Also on the topic of rushing, this is a different type of combat but it’s still a From Software game when it comes to looking around and finding stuff. Take your time, that’s also the good stuff I’m here for on top of cool swordfighting.

This. Just read everything. It can be tempting to skip stuff to keep the pace up for the audience but all that happens is you lose more time later when you get stuck or lost later on.

Yeah I have to agree. Sekiro > Elden Ring and it's not really that close

Have you guys lowered the bitrate recently? I can barely see what’s going on here at times due to the blockiness.

was gonna say. i like it a lot less than the other from games, cause it tossed out too much of the stuff i like in the souls games. it's the opposite of bloated.

I'm so glad someone at GB is checking this game out! I adore this game, it was the first Soulsborne that "clicked" for me and the challenge it puts up was a huge blast to get through, excited to watch the rest!

@huckleberrysassacre: I wouldn't say most people hate it; clearly it's quite popular and has been very successful. It's certainly the outlier though; as a pure action game it has a very different feel to it for sure.

@therealturk: I don't think any of that's true. It's a meticulously well designed and technically proficient action game.

It is NOT however, a Souls game, and that is what turned a lot of people off. I applaud From for taking 'risks' if you will. They have shown incredible talent and they're one of the best developers working right now.
