Birthday Finale!

Even though it’s a way off since they’ve said they’re taking a break, I can’t wait for the fucking rollercoaster ride that is SH3 and 4

I kinda figured Jan would avoid In Water because he was always healing James.

Also I always forget the extra mini-story on the Xbox version of sh2

While I think it would be better to close out Run 2 the Hills with that tremendous letter, I get that there are things to discuss in Born From a Wish. I don't remember much from it, but there's nothing that can top that reading. It's rough every time for me.

No matter what the palette cleanser game will be, I'm looking forward to it, but if they're doing what Jan hinted at, then HELL YEAH LET'S GO

I find the idea of there being no canonical ending really quite moving. It puts a lot of trust into the player to parse their own feelings about James and what they think is right based on the story.

I would love to see Born from a Wish. I may have seen the ending cutscene like 10 years ago, but I never played it. For how much I know about Silent Hill 2, it would be fun to actually know what that thing is.

Dog ending, forever.

The show’s been going for six months, and I’ve somehow only just noticed the robotic voice saying “Run for the hills” in the intro.

Anyway, what a game! I knew about the euthanasia twist, but nothing about how it played into the ending(s). I can absolutely see why this game is regarded so highly!

Edit to add: Jan, if you're alluding to the game I think you are at the end, go careful. The last time I saw some guys play that game on a stream, their Xbox died. Sad stuff :(

BRAVO!!!!!!! Amazing!!!! I got to experience things that I had originally forgotten from playing the game as a teenager!

Also, LOVE Jan's expression while Jess was telling him what the white bundle was in the boat.

Is it just me or does James have a hint of Otacon about him?

Ico and Silent Hill 2 actually released on the same day, in September of '01. Both are in my lifetime top ten. By that metric, I suppose it has to be the greatest single day in gaming history, for me.

Yeah, I have the same reaction as Jan when someone says "in too deep."

Jess should check out Zone of the Enders 2 here, if ZOE is a top 30 game (the first can be quickly summed up, as the sequel goes full Kojima, which fits into the history of GB playthroughs). But Parasite Eve would be awesome.

God damn, that letter is the hardest boss in the game, it gets me no matter how many times i've played the game. Thanks for the playthrough guys!

Loved the playthrough, thank you Jess and Jan. Silent hill 2 still one of the best survival horrors that's a descent into suffering. Big sword cool ;)

This game manage the choice of ending a bit like Metro 1 and 2 did, in which it only tells you with subtle clues that the game is counting the good actions the player does to see if you can get the pacifist ending. Really likes that in those games

Jan instinctually getting the ending about compassion and forgiveness is the only way this could have ended

I started to watch all through the series a few days ago and today I finished this episode. This is a wonderful series, even if it is rather dark and heavy.

Thank you Jan for sticking with it. Times have been rough in many ways for the past... while... and I would totally support and understand if you'd wanted to stop (and I wholeheartedly encourage y'all taking a break to do other stuff).

Thank you Jess for setting up the series and making it a reality! I knew of Silent Hill as a series by word of mouth, but I've never been much into horror media. Having a chance to experience this series, especially one that is so hard to track down and get working properly on modern PCs and consoles, is a real treat and even more so from someone who is so enthusiastic about the series.

As someone who has never played any of the Silent Hill games, I've been really enjoying this series! Thank you Jess and Jan for doing this series!

Seeing Jan the Puzzle Master breeze through this game's puzzles every week makes me want to see him play Myst or Riven. He'd probably beat them super fast!

Should have started Jan with the Silent Hill 2 slot machine! Come for the gambling stay for the trauma!

if they do Run 3 The Hills, i think Jess should come up with a way to do pop-up videos, if just for one episode, mostly because I think it would be funny.

It's awesome hearing Jess's passion for this game. I would love to see more of that from the crew.
