I disagree with a lot of what Tam said about Street Fighter. In SF5, Ryu plays different from the current iteration and day 1. I also don't think 1 button specials is the same as Jason doing a dragon punch. I used to play a lot of SF4 but even then it didn't mean I have 100% perfect execution and timing. I don't think it's bad to make it easier to execute, but just a bad comparison.

Giant Bomb, can you guys bring back the pop up at the bottom of the screen that would show what you're talking about? I really like that and it helps when trying to find something specific in the video.

While I get what Tam is saying, honestly from what I've seen the simple controls in SF6 are still basically for when you're having a party night with people who don't play fighting games and just want to have fun time pressing buttons and seeing cool stuff happen. But if you actualy want to learn the game you might as well start getting used to the normal controls off the bat.

Just had multiple people in my close orbit get COVID despite being careful for a long time. Seeing Tam and Jan coming back from an in-person event and Tam having a nagging cough has me stressing out. It seems like an inevitability in many respects, but still hate to see it. Hope you're fine @tamoor.

On the topic of that radio host asking about games that are like The Last of Us. I would say Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is adjacent.

It's also a game about an older male father-figure character journeying through a post-apocalypse with a younger adoptive-daughter character. It has stealth action-adventure gameplay and gadgets. It has performance captured cutscenes.

It is more fantastical than The Last of Us but it has a surprising number of similarities. Still available on Steam and Xbox. Unfortunately no PS4 / PS5 availability but it has a good chance of showing up on the PS3 streaming PS Plus tier.

Seems like a lot more sex based jokes in the bombcast since the new crew, which is not what I expected out of Gerstmann leaving. Maybe his weird creep voice interludes were the rock lee weights the cast has dropped, but I hope the new horny jokes don't just become an all the time thing; plenty of places on the internet for games and sex to constantly collide.

On the flipside, the impact on models from the death of booth babes is not a thing I really thought much about; my sister did modeling as secondary income but she's never done events so I'm unsure how that whole scene was. The continued sexualization and dehumanization of women in the games industry really did need to be checked. but maybe our solution should be more lateral... booth boys! Big himbo energy! Thembos too! Let people see beautiful people of all configurations to guide them to new games. Ideally all with slightly more clothes than before.

I'm a big Simpsons fan, enough that I subscribe to the Talking Simpsons patreon. But it's totally understandable for Jan to not connect with the show since he's young enough to have totally missed the bartmania period.

I'm going to guess that the seasons that were probably on TV when he was paying attention was probably around season 11. The podcast I previously mentioned is covering those teen seasons right now and their rough, honestly worse than the stuff airing this year. So no real surprise if he bounced off from those. Even the first two seasons are un-even if he went back to those. Though all the love to Jan even he hates my beloved Season 8.

But yeah I agree with the panel that after playing Shredder's Revenge it would be amazing to get a Simpsons Arcade sequel. That game was amazing despite it being made during Season 1 with barely any established characters, they'd have so much to draw on now. Though I'd just be happy with any console Simpsons game at this point, the fact that we haven't had a new Simpsons console game since 2007 is crazy.
