Oh man, I remember playing a lot of that Starsky & Hutch game on PC and thought it was really cool because you could drive and shoot at the same time before I knew any better. But now it just seems extremely repetitive. Though the PC version did let you use the mouse to actually aim freely instead of relying on the lock-on.

Seems like the golden age for animation was around the age where most grumpy duders would be past their prime for still actively trying to watch them live. Today, it would be fine because you would binge stream a marathon, but ages 6-13 benefited the most from stuff like hey Arnold, growing up with them. Watching it as a 17 or 22 or 30 man kinda loses the charm on seeing why it's good vs some stuff today. Add to that, adult animated material in the US sticks to oh how crass can we make this to show it's adult and worthy of being watched...it has to be a comedy and has to make your mother clutch her pearls within seconds, so it shows you're not watching kid stuff. Japan cartoons seem to be more accepted due to them functioning like any other medium of tv…you get sports shows, action, drama, adult etc. I see why US just started getting into it, as live action tv nosedived due to Cvid and animators thrived working from home. TV also seems too set like when you go back to it vs some prestige works or even event material like last of us. IMO. Pacing is also an issue with all of them, too slow, people watch in 1.5x speed.

I got so excited and nostalgic seeing Grubb play Rocket Power Beach Bandits. Its not an amazing game by any means but I played that when I was a kid. I used cheat codes to see the remaining levels on the 'Zine. Let me tell you, for a game where the initial plot of the story is "The beach's sand has been stolen!" the plot goes places in a way that's frankly buck wild for Rocket Power. For a show about extreme sports where any character being in the most danger was that one episode where Otto surfed against that egotistic surfer in a severe storm, the villain reveals get crazy. That Eric Golem dude initially acts all Dr. Robotnik sending robots intentionally to kill Team Rocket. But eventually Team Rocket Discover's Golem's base in a volcano where he plans to unleash earthquakes, but that becomes his undoing as the pressure causes Golem to fall into lava and dies. ...ONLY HE DOESN'T DIE AND IS REVEALED TO BE A TERMINATOR AND TEAM ROCKET MUST DESTROY GOLEM'S TRUE ROBOTIC FORM. After that game is over right? WRONG! Turns out the person who made that Golem robot was Eric Golem Jr who built Sr. to take the sand away and was creating a tsunami machine to wipe Ocean Shores off the map. Yeah, Rocket Power Beach Bandits gets freaking nuts with its plot which while I won't say its good, I gotta respect. Its a plot that couldn't be written for an episode of Rocket Power unless it was a dream sequence.

I appreciate the "you can't fight city hall' jingle, awakening long lost Rocko memories.

Watching Rocket Power and eating Hamburger Helper? C'mon now, Mike, you can't go passing off your Saturday night ritual as a childhood story.
