A most excellent Quick Look!

I've been looking forward to this one. Loved the first game (not to mention The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile). James Silva is a super-impressive dude, basically making these games all by himself.

On a side note, it's sort of baffling to me that I'm still not able to buy this on the PS store. I can wishlist it, but not pre-order it like I can most other games. I mean, it's a week before release, just let me buy the damn thing.

A friend of mine got me into the first game as a sort of "pre-Elden Ring" sorbet, and I'm REALLY looking forward to the sequel.

I love the weird grimdark, absurd Flash animation-look of the characters. Keeps things from being too serious, but not overtly comical.

i'm not crazy about the art style these games have, but this looks kind of fun.

Didn't know there was going to be a sequel. It looks really interesting but I really fell off the first game. Thanks for the quick look!

I was looking forward to playing this on Steam Deck, but alas, exclusivity continues to plague the video game industry. Boo :(

I've always rather liked the art-style of these games, though I do not pretend to actually played the Dishwasher or Vampire Smile. Salt and Sanctuary I liked a lot with it's deliberate approach to combat, but fell off at some point, maybe two thirds thru.

From what I see here, I am purchasing this game, probably soon. But I have so much on my plate with Elden Ring and other games, so getting to another Dark Souls like may be a while.

Or maybe soon.

This game is a real bummer. It's pretty much in every way worse than Salt and Sanctuary. Crafting healing items and ammo. no more parrying. having mages run mid-fight and needing to chase them down monster hunter style. Needing to go back to the hub and up several stairs and platforms to level up. No fast travel within zones so if you leave to level up you need to do the whole area again. No more shield slot, now a weapon is a combined sword+shield or staff+sword or spear+nothing.
