I was looking through my most played games and associated hours on Steam and they're pretty telling of the sort of gamer I am and the types of games I like. I thought it would be interesting to see others' and potentially add peeps that have similar gaming interests, or just talk about others' favorites. Obviously just being Steam excludes a lot of other PC games but it's still enough to get some cool info.

Your top 10 can be found at steamcommunity.com/id/YOURSTEAMURL/games/?tab=all or by going to your profile and clicking on GAMES on the right side.

    Anyways,

    • Team Fortress 2 - 1,588 hrs
    • Dota 2 - 976 hrs
    • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive - 280 hrs
    • PAYDAY 2 - 153 hrs
    • Fallout: New Vegas - 96 hrs
    • Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - 79 hrs
    • DARK SOULS™ II - 76 hrs
    • FTL: Faster Than Light - 73 hrs
    • Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition - 70 hrs
    • Spelunky - 68 hrs

You can add me here if you'd like.

    1. TF2 - 742 hrs (more than that really because they only started counting in steam after tf2 had been out a year or so)
    2. Civ V - 242 hrs
    3. Spelunky - 204 hrs
    4. Skyrim - 166 hrs
    5. Dragon Age: Origins - 112 hrs (this includes the expansion)
    6. Fallout: New Vegas - 89 hrs
    7. Crusader Kings 2 - 80 hrs (I still have no idea how the game works)
    8. Left 4 Dead 2 - 77 hrs
    9. Mass Effect 2 - 70 hrs
    10. Civ IV - 64 hrs

Honorable mentions to Mass Effect and Left 4 Dead with 61 hrs each.

    10. Planetside 2 - 61 hrs

Warframe and Planetside 2 are the only ones that stick out to me. A lot of that was probably the launchers being left open to patch. The next one is The Secret World (60 hrs), but that's got the same issue. After that it's Marvel Heroes 2015 (54 hrs) and Starbound (53 hrs), and those are probably legit.

    • Godus - 30 hrs

Compared to the kinds of times you guys are putting in, I guess I'm not one who really goes all in on games.

And I really did enjoy Red River. All these people cryin' and moanin', yet it's the closest I've felt to playing a proper old-school Ghost Recon type game. I couldn't give a toss if it share the name with some janky-ass old military simulator.

As for Godus and Tomb Raider, I must have left them running in the background or something as there's no way I played them that much.

I'm lazy. Super surprised to see Kingdoms of Amalur on there, since I didn't like that game much. I wanted to see it through though.

Most everything I would have expected to be there is there. Although I don't remember putting 167 hours into Borderlands 2. I mean...the first playthroughs on each character were fun, but damn that games stingy loot system and annoying difficulty without rare gear in playthrough 2 and beyond. That is 100 hours I wish I had in Dark Souls or something instead. No surprise that Civ V and Baldur's Gate 2 are the two top by quite a large amount of hours. I can always go back to those two games and have a good time.

I recently switched to being a PC primary gamer, so a lot of my longer playtimes still remain on console. Well that my Bioware games are on Origin. Really kinda surprised I don't have a 100 hr playthrrugh on any single player game yet, I'd thought I'd have a half a dozen or so by now.

Really can't believe Massive Chalice made my top ten, makes me wonder if Steam times are recording properly.

The fact that Borderlands is so high up there irks me because it's a game I think I dislike alot, got it's hooks into me anyway for some reason.

Honorable mention goes to Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes with 64 hours. Not such a short game after all huh (if you're insane).

I know Dark Souls 2 will end up on that list, but since Scholar of the First Sin counts as a different game, it won't.
Glad to see that five of the ten (probably easy to guess which ones) are on there because I mostly play/played them cooperatively with my brothers. I rarely get to see them in person anymore, so games is a way to get together and hang out in a way.
This also shows me that I don't stick with many games for very long, instead jump between a larger pool of games.

First of all about two thirds of my PC collection are still non-Steam, so there's that. SolForge's playtime is pretty meaningless because I don't close the client during the significant amount of downtime (due to waiting for tournament rounds to start, waiting for slow or AFK opponents etc.) but I'd estimate at least 1000 hours of actual playtime plus several hundreds of deckbuilding which is part of gameplay as far as I'm concerned.

Well that was surprising - almost all of my 10 most played are games I've played exclusively in multiplayer, with the exception of FTL. I guess I can't double-down on time spent in single-player games the way some others seem to. Or that I tend to play my longer singleplayer games (JRPGs and so on) on consoles. I also can't belive I have 95 hours in Civ V and I'm still yet to have enjoyed one of them.

This isn't entirely accurate since steam can be weird with the hour counts. I know for a fact I've spent over a hundred hours in New Vegas, but that game had reset its hour count at some point and it's at 13 or something now.

I don't leave games idling for more than a couple of minutes at a time. So the hours are at least pretty representative of how much my face was plastered to the screen. A fair bit of dota is queueing and storefront though.

And the Witcher 3 is going to get a whole lot of more hours in when I get back on it. Still in act 1 for gods sake. XD

but my true time consuming gaming culprit is a non steam game by the name of Starcraft 2, where I have logged over 12.000 games over the past 4-5 years. I have no idea how many hours that is, but its a lot.

Skyrim is king, but if I count PS4 and Vita I've probably played more Spelunky. I can't imagine ever putting 2,000 hours into a game (I own DOTA2 and TF2 they are just way down my list) I just don't see how anyone has the time!

@draugen: How did you put that many hours into Mass Effect 2 did you replay it multiple times? I never thought that game had nearly as much content as most of the games on these lists.

I guess so. though every match varies, but I guess you are more or less right :D damn...

I know for a fact that I've put in roughly 100 hours to both Civ V,and Sleepy Dogs- which for some reason does not even register that I've played it.

Yup. If there was a tiny variation of events I wanted to see, I didn't reload an old save and make another choice. I started a whole new character. I regret nothing.

Those are just steam times. I would not want to look at the time I have played for Blizzard games, Battlefield series, or Pokemon. I know on my WoW main I have at least 180 days on that toon alone.

I feel that pain, my friend. I did the math once, and discovered I somehow managed to put 100+ days into Diablo II. Sure it was a blast, but I can't help but think of how I could've spent that time actually doing something useful... like my homework.

And apparently Diablo II came out 15 years ago. I feel old.

The sad part is, that's only a fraction of the total time I've spent playing FFXI.

I'd also like to say that the PC game I've played the most in the past few years is definitely Diablo 3 but of course it's not a Steam game so the 2500+ hours I spent playing it doesn't show up.

Ah I should have known that Skyrim would nab the top spot in this list. It isn't listed here but Final Fantasy XIV would be in the top spot since I spent at least 200 hours on it. MMO's tend to be what I sink the most time into.

Most of my most played games aren't on Steam, like Minecraft, the first 3 Halo games, and several Call of Duty games. I'm pretty sure I've played more Minecraft than my 10 most played steam games combined.

    Terraria - 266

The Binding of Isaac - 242

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth - 162

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition - 107

    Spelunky - 101

    Dark Souls 2 - 64

Nuclear Throne - 42 I honestly can't believe how much time I spent on this already considering I've had it for less than a month.

    FTL - 36

    Team Fortress 2 - 33

    Rogue Legacy - 28

Defense Grid: The Awakening - 31 hrs on record

Starbound - 30 hrs on record

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - 29 hrs on record

Conclusion: I like loot, Down-Right Fierce, telling people to shoot faces and shooting faces.

Fallout 3 should be somewhere on that list, but for some reason Steam didn't record its time properly =/

I think if you run the game with FOSE, Steam doesn't recognise it. I've played through Fallout 3 three or four times but my Steam clock says 45 minutes...

    1. Champions Online - 153 hours

    2. BioShock Infinite - 52 hours

    3. Fallout New Vegas - 43 hours

    4. Saints Row IV - 41 hours

    5. Telltale's Sam & Max series - 26 hours

    6. Portal 2 - 22 hours

    7. The Walking Dead - 19 hours

    8. The Book of Unwritten Tales - 18 hours

    9. Left 4 Dead 2 - 17 hours

    10. Alice: Madness Returns - 16 hours

    11. Left 4 Dead, Broken Age, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Grim Fandango Remastered, DC Universe Online, The Secret World - 14 hours

To put things in perspective, adding all of these times together wouldn't come anywhere near the amount of time I've spent playing just one of my World of Warcraft characters. That's an hour count I don't like thinking about, I think it's measured by months.

Other honorable mentions include Minecraft (No clue), Skyrim (Near 300 hours) and Fallout 3 (100 hours). The latter two I played on Xbox 360.

I had my hours calculated on Xfire (rip) before Steam started taken hours into account. So I've combined the two for the top 4.

    1. Team Fortress 2 - 606 hours

    2. F.E.A.R. - 585 hours

    3. Counter-Strike Source: 202 hours

    4. CS 1.6 - 150 hours

    5. Bad Company 2 - 104 hours

    6. CS:GO - 37 hours

    7. Dishonored - 26 hours

    8. Deus Ex Human Revolution - 24 hours

    9. Age of Mythology EE - 20 hours

    10. Gotham City Impostors (I wish this wasn't #10) - 19.3 hours

Growing up in middle school I know I played the original Age of Mythology and Titans on disk for well over a thousand hours. I didn't think I played that many shooters lol.

    Hmm...

    1. Skyrim: 183h
    2. GTA V: 140h
    3. Terraria: 136h
    4. Borderlands 2: 121h
    5. Command & Conquer 3: 108h
    6. Saints Row: The Third: 102h
    7. Civ V: 99h
    8. Fallout: New Vegas 96h
    9. World in Conflict: 96h
    10. Half Life 2: 93h

However, that doesn't include Company of Heroes, about 50+ more hours in New Vegas and Fallout 3 (which is probably much higher than NV), due to mods not launching it through steam properly, until relatively recently. Also I put a good chunk of time into Skyrim, Fallout 3 / NV and Half Life 2 (via Orange Box) for Xbox 360 before I really got into PC gaming. Also I had HL2 when it launched but lost the disk ages ago.

Also I run Guild Wars 2 through Steam so I would technically count it. And that's well over a thousand hours.

Edit: Oh yeah, I played GTA V on 360 as well since they took forever to get the PC version out. But in the end I'm glad they took so long, that game runs incredibly well for me, even with most settings jacked way up.
