The armored core series was one of my favorites in the PS2 era, and I had a blast playing AC4.
I really hope they fix the online component a lot in AC5.
Armored Core V
Game » consists of 6 releases. Released Mar 20, 2012
The reboot to the Armored Core franchise, Armored Core V takes place in the wake of a global catastrophe where humanity fights over world resources.
Anybody else excited for this?
Sort of... I enjoyed one of the AC games, I think it was 2? Never really been all that much into mechs except for Gundam toys when I was a youngin'.
I loved playing Armoured Core originally on the PS1 and played a fair amount on PS2 but I really got into when my best friend bought Armoured Core 4: For Answer (Latest one I believe) and we kept replaying each mission, sitting beside each other, with out different mechs and play styles (he was accurate and precise, I was fast and deadly) and had such a blast.
Im really looking forward to AC5 and hope I can do that again.
Kind of.
On one hand, I've been itching for a good mech game for a while now. On the other, I haven't really enjoyed an Armored Core game since the first one.
I really hope they add schematic transferring to this game so we can play with our older mechs from AC4 and AC:fa
Kinda? I loved it back in the day, but recent releases haven't done much for me. Still, big ass mechs will always have a place in my heart.
I've never really been a mecha guy... I wonder if I should at least give one the time of day...I would strongly suggest at least trying out AC4 or ACfa if you have a more recent console
Old topic but...as a huge fan of Chromehounds, I'll be watching this game, been waiting for a good online mech game since playing Chromehounds for months on end with my friends. It seems as though the multiplayer will be similar in AC5.
I always liked the AC games, but could never play them. Armored Core 4 made the games a lot more accessible to me. I also like that they shrunk the mechs. It makes them more plausible. The UI in the center of the screen is kind of annoying but it might actually be more realistic. I think jet fighter pilots have green stuff all in their field of view anyway.
Personally, I can't wait to build an infinite flight, bombardment core and cheese the fuck out of everyone. I wonder how they're going to handle Human+ this time around.
Never played any of these but kind of interested in this one. Is this game/series more multiplayer focused or do they have good or "enjoyable" stories with crazy mech combat? I have fond memories of playing Front Mission 3 and I actually kind of liked Front Mission Evolved.
I haven't played any of the earlier ones either, but after watching Gurren Lagann I just need to wreck shit in mechs. And even though they are wildly different in tone and style, it still should suit me.
I used to play some mech game on Windows a long time ago, but can't remember which one. Mech Warrior 2 maybe, loved that.
Really hope that the game and the Xbox version end up being great. I'm just putting my trust in From Software with this preorder.
@SavageManLove: The stories in the past games have been pretty irrelevant. This is probably mostly due to the fact that there have been very few cutscenes and absolutely no visible humans or dialogue. All the exposition has been delivered in monologues from your contact/liaison/manager/lady who gives you missions talking about all the corporations and how they hate each other. Apparently you end up saving the world every time but it's always disconnected from the actual gameplay.
If you're buying Armored Core it's because you love fast-paced mech combat with an unparalleled level of customization.
I've found incredible enjoyment from most iterations of the franchise. Armored Core 4 felt simplified and a step back from Nexus, but I still enjoyed playing and beating it.
I'll be grabbing this game, hoping it will grab me like some of my past favorites. There have been a lot of really good AC games.
I never played AC1, so the idea that they are going back to their roots is a personal worry.
Chromehounds felt like a betrayal, as I only owned the PS3. I'm hoping AC5 will provide a similar experience to what I missed.
I dunno, Armored Core 2 was definitely one of my favorite games on the PS2 but I kinda gave up on the follow up titles because I got fed up with the endless delays this series had in Europe ( I remember watching the amazon release date for Armored Core 2 Another Age change every month or so and after a year I just gave up. The game got released eventually, 14 months after the US release date). Plus from what are people saying is that the series hasn't really progressed since so ill wait for reviews and quicklooks and whatnot. Hopefully, From Software would have made a decent amount of money from Dark Souls and put some of that into making a better entry in the series rather than just adding more weapons and parts.
Amazon fucked up my release-date shipping again so I won't get the game until tomorrow. Once I get my hands on it, I'll come back with some impressions.
Tried the Japanese demo. Seemed more simple, action based. Really want to see how that pays out. Been a big fan of the series, but, I've been wanting them to do more "Gundam" like models (old Gundam). I hope that Gundam Unicorn gets localized, that game is sick and its from this guys. I'm currently going to import a copy of it though.
im more of a western mech guy myself
i love battletech games
but this looks awesome too ,waiting for quicklook
