Arthur Maxson

Overview

Arthur Maxson is an Elder in the Brotherhood of Steel, achieving the rank of Elder of the East Coast Brotherhood. Maxson set up his command center aboard the Prydwen airship, allowing him to spread his influence across the east coast.

Background

The Maxson family has a long history of leadership within the Brotherhood of Steel, dating back to the legendary Roger Maxson, founder of the Brotherhood. His father, Jonathan Maxson, was a high-ranking Paladin stationed outside of the New California Republic. After being killed in combat, Arthur's mother sent Arthur to the Citadel to be raised under the tutelage of Elder Lyons.

While studying at the Citadel, Maxson became increasingly lonesome as the only child in a base full of soldiers. He quickly developed a timid and reserved demeanor, befriending the inanimate robot Liberty Prime as his only friend.

After the death of Elders Owyn and Sarah Lyons, with the eastern Brotherhood of Steel beginning to crumble under ineffectual leadership, Arthur Maxson became more intensely dedicated in his training that results in numerous legendary achievements. At age 13, he single-handedly killed a Deathclaw, suffering a scar across his face. His most notable achievement came at the age of 15, when he killed the super mutant Shepherd trying to reorganize the Capital Wasteland super mutants.

Seeing his unparalleled achievements and leadership, the West Coast Elders of the Brotherhood of Steel appointed Maxson Elder of the East Coast Brotherhood in 2283, at the age of 16, the youngest ever Elder in the Brotherhood.
