A Standalone Xbox One Kinect Will Cost You $150

Microsoft to begin shipping standalone Kinects on October 7.

Since Microsoft decided to remove Kinect from every Xbox One, thus allowing a price drop from $499 to $399, we've been wondering when the company would offer the option to purchase a Kinect separately. The answer is October 7, and it'll cost $149.99.

Microsoft will bundle Kinect with Dance Central: Spotlight, which features 10 songs.

While $149 might induce some sticker shock, Kinect for Xbox 360 launched at the same price in November 2010. That device went on to become a hit, but it seems unlikely the same is in store for Kinect on Xbox One, a device Microsoft seems to be moving on from.
