Assassin's Creed Multiplayer Beta Exclusive to PS3...Again

Stab, stab, stab. Dudes, dudes, dudes. Face, face face.

Mostly everyone figured the multiplayer would be terrible in Brotherhood. Luckily, we were wrong!
Mostly everyone figured the multiplayer would be terrible in Brotherhood. Luckily, we were wrong!

If you'd like an early crack at stabbing dudes in the face with knives again, PlayStation 3's the platform of choice. Ubisoft will be beta testing Assassin's Creed: Revelations' multiplayer exclusively on PS3.

If you'll remember, the multiplayer beta for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood was exclusive to PS3, too.

The beta kicks off on September 3 and ends on September 11 for both PlayStation Plus and Uplay members.

You'll gain access to nine characters (The Sentinel, The Vanguard, The Guardian, The Vizier, The Thespian, The Deacon, The Bombardier, The Trickster, The Champion) a total of three maps (Knight’s Hospital, Antioch, Constantinople) and four modes (Wanted, Manhunt, Deathmatch, Artifact Assault), which Ubisoft claims is just a "sample" of the content planned for the game.

To stab or not to stab, that is the question.

The Champion? Is that you Hawke?

I have put in so much love and money into the Assassins Creed franchise I am really annoyed that they won't let me in the beta because I play on the 360. I bought all 3 games (first one limited edition) I bought all the dlc, I still play the multiplayer. Hell I even played the shit out of the facebook game. /nerdrage

While there was nothing wrong with Brotherhood's multiplayer, I played it once and never touched it again. It wasn't the experience I wanted out of an Assassin's Creed title as part of the fun of the games for me is is exploring the environments and going at a slow pace.

@mracoon: I'm exactly the same. I played it once and thought that the time and effort it would take to get good at the multiplayer was not how I wanted to spend my time with the game

PS3 gets an exlusive beta, negative connotations. 360 gets timed exclusive everything, not a word about it.

"Mostly everyone figured the multiplayer would be terrible in Brotherhood" - What? since when?

Before release people were apprehensive at most sure, but no one was running around shitting on it.

He didn't say the MP was slow paced, he said the way he plays the SP is slow paced. I do the same, i loved the MP but after a while i noticed people weren't being stealthy anymore, they were just running around trying to rack up as many kills they could. Unfourtnetly like mracoon said it's the exact opposite of the way i play AC.

Yeah, that guy doesn't really get to judge having admitted to only playing it once. But personally, I felt the whole experience fell apart once you start playing high level guys with some of the mega-cheap perks like Templar Vision or who just exploited balance flaws, like when playing as the defenders in the manhunt mode, they all clump together and keep you on the ground so you can't get back up because the recovery time is too long, giving them plenty of time to stun you again.

Stuff like that got me to quit Brotherhood's multiplayer, even when they gave away free maps and new modes. Hopefully they'll have fixed it in Revelations.

Last time I checked the Uplay accounts were platform-specific. This was when Conviction came out so they might have unified them by now, but be prepared.

You'd think they'd have a beta on the 360 as well. I mean, more testers the better, right?

Oh well. Last AC MP was actually really cool. Excited to see what they do for this one.

Exclusive betas are amusing, not really much of a test unless you get your beta across all platforms your deploying on. Someone should remind Ubi and Activision what beta's are actually for.

There was nothing wrong with the pace, but it did take some time to get into, so only playing it once would mean you missed out.

It did really bring a new twist to the tired multiplayer experience of action games and it's still very enjoyable.

Am I ever sick of modern gaming trends. Pre-order bonuses, over priced DLC, exclusive beta's for multiplatform titles, console exclusive DLC.. These publishers could at least man up and stop taking bribes from Microsoft and Sony. This crap isn't good for anyone and I refuse to play along any more.

There are no cheap perks. Templar vision is a good example. Almost no high level players use it. Know why? It's a good way to get a fist to the face, loose your target and give him points. Because you light up like a christmas tree when you use it.

On manhunt that's your and your teams fault. A. Where is your team when you are alone getting stunlocked? B. You can respawn if getting stunlocked.

There are some small balance flaws for sure, but the ones you mentioned are not them, not by a long shot.

People who run around usually loose (by a wide margin). Once you play with high level people everyone runs around much less. And it doesn't take long to rank up at all. Methodical players are almost always toping the leaderboards with fewer kills but more points.

Lame. Why does a stupid beta have to be console exclusive. It would make more sense to actually test out the game on multiple consoles to make sure you find all the bugs and glitches before release which is the purpose of a beta.

I dont care that this is exclusive to PS3, but it does seem extremely short sighted to launch a beta on only one platform when you are launching on 3. Not to mention that if you dont have PS Plus you cant get it so its only open to a portion of PS3 owners! Since you have to be a PS Plus memeber id actually call this a paid demo rather than a beta.
