In November, Bethesda said that this patch would squash save file corruption bugs and address a "number of other issues being reported." In a new blog post, the publisher outlines what's been fixed and addressed. Save file corruption is indeed one of the "top" fixes alongside much-needed companion tweaks.
Here's the full list. Note that this is pretty much a head-to-toe patch, addressing nearly every important system and mechanic in the game.

Provided these fixes work as intended out in the wild, it appears as if we'll be able to start saying that New Vegas is simply "fun" instead of "buggy, but fun." Are there any PS3 owners out there who've tested this out? Have any of you been holding out on New Vegas until a patch like this hit?
Hopefully they make Rex and Cass un-disappeared, or at least let me pick another companion to replace them. And being able to go into The Strip without having to equip a cowboy hat so it doesn't crash and corrupt my saves would be cool too.
Great game, but easily the glitchiest I have ever played. Ever.
Absolutely the reason I was prepared to wait and get this game for Christmas. I'm sure it will be amazing, but I didn't want to handle quite as many bugs as GB said it had shipped with.
Duders there are games with FAR more bugs out there. I´ve played about 45 hours of this and had the game crash twice. There was one Scorpion stuck in the geometry and one companion who took forever to get up after gettin knocked down, but absolutely NOTHING game-breaking.
I would think twice before calling it "a piece of shit" or whatever.. you guys should seriously play Daggerfall (or Morrowind before some of the patches) that game was buggy as hell for me.
@Superfriend: You've got to take it on a case by case basis really, from the sounds of it you were very lucky with New Vegas, I had 6 hard crashes, enemies hidden under the floor (who could still kill me) unfinishable quests, broken map markers e.t.c and I played for about 15 hours before giving up and waiting for the patch.
I'm a little disappointed by us PC gamers getting the patch "next week". I thought Steam was the quickest way to distribute patches and stuff. Oh, well, I guess I'll hold back another week before finally beating the game.
Oh goody, let me find my disc and put it back in my PS3 now that I'm no longer scared I'll be stripped of all my progress at random and without warning.
Played this game about 15 hours and only a single crash. A couple of scorpions in the floor but other than that I'm very happy with it. Bring on more patches, what the heck!
I guess everybody's entitled to their opinion. I've played the game for over 80 hours already and had a blast so far.

While I have to agree with your statement, I have to say in Fallout's defense that those quests were only "potentially" buggy. I've played thorugh a lot of them and had no problems whatsoever. Still, I had also wished it would have worked flawlessly from the beginning. "
If there were bugs that necessitated fixing in them, then they were buggy. Please don't sugarcoat this piece of shit. "
Im with Hailinel. This game should not have been released in the shape it was. "
Seriously huge list of patches there but I'm glad to see they have finally done it. I have been waiting to pick up my copy until I knew these issues were fixed. Ironically there are even more here then I knew about.

When is this patch update due?
I'll have to concede & state that I'm finally seeing issues in the game. The primary issue is the LOAD TIME. Later in the game when you get up in the New Vegas area, it can take 30 seconds to a minute to load, even fast travel & so on. If I didn't love the game so much I wouldn't be enduring it.
Next, I've had my NPC just vanish! I've figured out why, at least one reason. When you advance the PC's story, a flag goes up that they wish to speak to you. However, if you immediately go into Fast Travel or switch to another area, the NPC doesn't get to use the flag & instead disappears.
I found a work-around on youtube & was proceeding to that area. However, the NPC showed up during a random encounter. The NPC then halted me & delivered her story. She disappeared again later (got lost in the mountains which could happen in Fallout 3), & when I threw some dynamite at a Big Horn (executed in VATS), she yelled out "Grenade!" & then appeared in the battle.
I really hope they fix the slow load time.
EDIT: Well shtt. I didn't see the slow load time in the patch list. Plus it ain't out til next week? Man. I gotta finish Deadly Premonition..maybe I'll work on that a little over the weekend.
@Lind_L_Taylor: Check out my thread in the New Vegas forums. I will update that when new patches comes out and all info from Bethesda/Obisidian. Right now this patch is out on the PC and PS3. The 360 patch will come out tmorrow or the day after that, in this week of course. And in terms of the problems, many problems were fixed in this patch, but the patch-notes dont say much, so it's a good chance many of the problems are fixed. However, to fully get all the fixes you should start a new game since they all dont merge into your save.

Shit. Really? If I have to start over I'll be going hardcore..
Never really had many problems with the game previously, and the ones that did occur weren't major. Since the patch I'm having trouble going 30 minutes without the game crashing.
The feature additions seem to be nice though I guess...
Do you have to start over to enjoy the benefits of the patch? I'm still playing my existing game & it seems like it's loading faster between areas than last week. Not sure about anything else however.

Some will merge with your save, like ammo fixes and tweaks, save corruptions etc, but some will not, like some quests. The best thing is to sart a new game to benefit from all fixes of course, but if you haven't met broken quests then there shouldn't be a problem really. But for some reason the game will crash more frequantly after the new patch. But if you play in short-bursts you should be OK.

So the new patch causes more frequent, random crashes? The only crash I've seen so far (part of the old save) is when I buy cards in the Mojave Outpost. I have found that if I buy one card at a time (buy then exit to the "trade" menu), I can buy all the cards without the game crashing.
I tried boning the zombie whore. Sadly, it didn't work & I can't try again.
@Lind_L_Taylor: I did some research on my own with the crashes and when i deleted my game cache and confirmed the latest update again it was all OK. No crash in 10 hours. So i'm not sure, but i know for sure that many people got more crashes after it. Oh, and the crash you speak of is fixed with the patch.

Man I hope I don't have to clear out the cache too. I think I'll just finish up what I have before starting it a second time with patch (& hardcore).
