BioShock 2 Minerva's Den DLC Hitting Later This Month

2K Marin asks if you would kindly download it.

The next and last bit of BioShock 2 DLC, Minerva's Den, is launching at the end of this month on August 31 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, according to 2K Marin. The long-awaited narrative-led content will make its debut at ten bucks on both those platforms and will presumably cost the same for Windows Live users when it hits the service at a "later date."

Minerva's Den sounds like a sweet piece of content. It expands on the story of BioShock 2, while at the same time opens up a new area to explore (Rapture Central Computing), hands over new weapons and a new plasmid to rip up unique Splicers, and even unveils a fresh variant of the beloved and feared Big Daddy called The Lancer.

If you've been gobbling up 2K Marin's content thus far, there's an extra special bonus included in Minerva's Den just for you. According to Joystiq's post about this announcement, owners of the Protector's Trials DLC will be given the opportunity to buy a Master Protector tonic from any Gatherer's Garden. With the tonic in equipped, harvesting times increase but so does the amount of ADAM acquired after the fact. Neat, right?

Ugh...I still want to be excited for more Bioshock since I loved the first game, but I really didn't enjoy Bioshock 2.

For me that's $5 too expensive for, at best, 2 hours of content.

Steve "Hot Scoops" Gaynor of Idle Thumbs fame was the lead designer and writer on this so I'm looking forward to it.

Steve Gaynor was a lead on this, so it should definitely be worth checking out.

Though seriously I might grab this. After the Bioshock Infinite announcement this seems even more old hat, but that is not out for 2 more years so...

Rapture Central Computing? I hope there is a malevolent A.I. that is actually just some dude sticking punch cards into some kind of proto computer.

Or some dude puppeteering Samuel L. Jackson's severed arm to put punch cards into a computer.

Why do they keep trying to cram more of this wretched game down our throats with constant DLC that usually isn't worth two cents? 2K fucked up with this game from a support standpoint, especially with PC gamers. Don't support this trash.

Odds are the "story" in this DLC will be pretty lame and inconsequential.  Oh well, I'm a consumerist whore so I'll still buy it.

Me three. I remember being ready to finish the game, but apparantly I was only halfways. It just kept going and going.

I still have to get to Bioshock 2 in my queue of games to play and I love it when DLC comes out before I can start playing a game.  However 10 bones sounds a bit too steep not knowing the content.  I think it should have followed the leader and charged 7.

I haven't played BioShock 2, but I might rent it or get a used copy just to buy this.  I want to see what "Hot Scoops" can pull off.  I'm expecting a real FarCry 2 fell to this add-on.

Too bad there's prolly plenty of people like me that have traded in Bioshock2 by now so soon after the release. Might still be worth looking into later but I'd rather tackle the new games I didn't get to before (mostly thanks to gamefly) instead of dipping into Rapture again for a little amount of DLC.

with the little sister level of BS2 I don't know how anyone can dislike the game tbh, to me everything in the second one was better I mean there is a rocket spear gun and bee traps. No doubt in my mind I'll get this dlc

This. I loved BioShock 2 because there were so many more layers to it, certainly more than the original. The first game excelled in just giving you access to this deeply troubled, but interesting world, but 2 offered you more things to consider, more story to enjoy and better gameplay. My only complaint about it was that - holy heck - it had some difficult parts. I beat the first game on Hard relatively problem-free, but playing through the second on Normal made me think the original was kinda an easy game.

But, yay. Looking forward to playing this. I'm on my way to unlocking everything in the Protector Trials, might have to work on that a lil harder now :). Also, it's fantastic that these dudes care about this game by continually working on it by adding great stuff n' updating it. So sad that majority of Internet forum people are self-consumed negativity whores who wouldn't know a good thing if it slapped them in the face :x

Agreed.  I'm suprised that people seem to think the big draw of Bioshock is its narrative rather than open level design and the unique weapons it gives you.  A lot of unique weapons.

I found BS2 to be a lot more enjoyable after I turned off that stupid arrow that told you where to go and messed around with all the different weapons and plasmids.

besides, the multiplayer was really fun with all those tonics! I had a blast playing ADAM grab or capture the sister (hell, even deathmatch was fun with random big daddy suit drops and all those crazy abilities!)

I was suspicious of this game at first being an obvious cash grab, but I actually enjoyed it.  The multiplayer was actually not that bad either.  I probably won't be picking this DLC up just because there is too much other stuff to play though.

I had low expectations for Bioshock 2 but it was a surprisingly well done game. I'd love to see more single-player content for the game but seeing as I bought it on Steam I could be waiting for a while. Thanks, DICE, for destroying my confidence in PC ports.
