Call of Duty: Black Ops PC Will Support Steamworks

Great. There goes all my petition planning.

Avoiding Internet petitions is tough work, but it appears as if Treyarch may have pulled it off. A couple of weeks ago, the studio announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops PC would ship with dedicated server support (rental-only for users), easing some of the fury PC users felt over Modern Warfare 2's lack thereof. Now, it's announcing that the Steam version of the shooter will support Steamworks, which is sure to make more than a few PC users very pleased indeed.

Black Ops Steam will, as most other Steamworks-supported titles tend to, ship with Steam Cloud save functionality, Steam achievements, and Steam auto-updating. The press release announcing this support also teases "more," so feel free to get pumped or something.

"Steam has been a great partner throughout development of Black Ops," Treyarch head honcho Mark Lamia said in a statement. "We're working closely together to take full advantage of Steamworks to ensure we deliver the most polished and secure PC experience that our community deserves."

You can pre-order the Steam version of Black Ops right now if you want to. Go ahead and just head to the the main Steam site. There's a huge banner there. You can't miss it.
