Kid Icarus To Return Alongside 3DS Launch

The first title to make its public debut on the Nintendo 3DS this afternoon wasn't Animal Crossing. Instead, Nintendo featured Kid Icarus: Uprising, which is in development at Project Sora under Masahiro Sakurai's watchful eyes.

Uprising is being described as an "action-packed" blend of ground and aerial shooter combat with easy-to-master controls. The game will see the return of Pit who alongside the goddess Palutena, must beat back the Medusa's dreaded underworld army. It feels like 1987 all over again, right?

I thought this was a Wii game for a second there, pretty cool.

I don't understand the love for Kid Icarus that has had people lusting over a sequel for the last 20 years or so. I played the NES game, but I don't know why people so desperately want a modern day take on it. Can someone fill me in?

This could prove to be the greatest handheld of all time! I know, that pretty much applies to every handheld Nintendo releases, but that can't be a bad thing!

Holy shit, that game looks better than half of all Wii games. That, alongside glasses-less 3D? If it has a respectable battery life, it just proves that Nintendo is still full of wizards.

Why does the sinister dude in the second screenshot have a Metroid for a head?

Looks awesome! Some cringeworthy lines and voice acting, though.

Excited, but Kid Icarus's voice reminds me of Link's voice from that terrible Zelda cartoon.  Like he was pulled out of a "rad kid" casting call from early 90's cartoons.  And the song sounds like the merged the Kid Icarus theme with the theme from the Love Boat. 
 
But I did like that it started with "sorry to keep you waiting" and ended with an eggplant man.  God damn eggplant men.

Why didn't they just say it was a DS with a PSP's graphics? That would have sold me more than the 3D crap.

This game looks fucking amazing.

Man i feel like i did when i first saw the wii, i don't know if thats a good thing or not. Is this thing 2010 or 2011? I WANT.

My stream was acting up during this trailer. Is this a 3DS launch title or is it just a DS game that happens to be coming out at the same time as the 3DS?

I loved the original and the Game Boy game.  I played that Game Boy game for days, over and over again.  So HAPPY!

I find it interesting that Nintendo walked right into the same mistake Sony made with the PSP. Only one analogue stick/nub/thing. Using a stylus instead didn't fare so well in Metroid Prime: Hunters. 
 
The flying sections of this are rail-shootery and even the movement in the on-foot sections looks very right to left. There is no forward or backwards motion that is obviously player-controlled.

Its Patton Oswalt, the guy who played Remy in Ratatouille. I can recognize that voice anywhere.

This is the perfect game to lead the way for all the other games that were shown for the 3DS today. Compared to the original announcement of the DS, this handheld is in an amazing place. 

The old Kid Icarus game sucks, so I'll happily take a reboot that reminds me more of Star Fox than the original game.

From everything I have read, I am really excited for the 3DS, and this looks like it will be a good launch game.

Looks like I lost $50.  I bet a guy they would never make another Kid Icarus game.
