Here's an interesting device we don’t remember Jack Tretton talking about during Sony's E3 2010 press briefing: the PS3-specific surround sound system. It's a simple name for a simple single-speaker piece of hardware that uses Sony's S-Force Pro tech, which can spit out dynamic, standard, vivid, and stereo sound fields.
(By the way, If you bang on your ceiling with a stick, make sure you're in the right. For example, if you have kids who scream all morning and are also prone to having brutal arguments with your wife every other day, perhaps you shouldn't be beating on the ceiling with a stick. After all, you make noise, too and so do your effing little demons that you call children. Just something to consider.)
The PS3 surround sound system is due this fall and will be priced at $199 in North America.
== TEASER == UPDATE: I'm pretty sure a PS3 isn't required to use these. The press materials don't mention it, but I think you'll just use the optical jack for the sound.
