BioWare has kicked off the PR cycle for their next sci-fi RPG with a bang. Check out the first teaser trailer and concept artwork.
BioWare just sent out a quick email suggesting we visit MassEffect.com, and when I did, well, I was greeted by this first teaser trailer for none other than Mass Effect 2. And before you watch it, let me just say this is how you do a damn teaser trailer.
OK, how exciting is that? Tension building...admirable service record...alien buddies...all good so far...SHEPARD KILLED IN ACTION...GETH WEARING N7 TAG...WHAT THE HELL?! Bravo, BioWare. Way to turn my expectations right on their pretty little head. I didn't think I could be more interested in the sequel than I already was, but there you go. I wonder how this jives with the recent news that you can import your original Mass Effect save game into the sequel? What do you think this trailer means for the series' storyline?
The site is getting absolutely slammed at the moment, so if you can't access it, I've also nabbed the two concept art wallpapers posted along with the teaser.

Now there's an idea. I don't know how plausible it is but that would be crazy cool.
Spoilers for the first novel-
If you read the first novel you'd know that humans researched AI alot, and I think it talked about how they'd continue too. Now that humanity has a seat on the Citadel they could take that info and use it to try and conquer the geth. Seems like alot of stuff to have happened between games though. That seems like almost a whole game in and of itself. Mass Effect 1.5?

About time, I read it won't be until next year, but it's nice too see something hyping the game a bit to keep folks interested.
I'm guessing with all the Geth you killed there were plenty of specimens for examination. It's highly possible that they managed to get at least one (or more) to become controllable. Maybe even go so far as to have converted thousands into a disposable regiment, keeping it all hush-hush of course considering the ban on AI.
Imagine a Geth crew member similar to that droid in KOTOR, viewing organics with disdain and always an instant away from turning on you.
I've not yet read the 2nd novel but it focuses on the Geth and I'm betting it will have some clues as to what is going on.
I'm very excited about this. To me, ME was the best game on the 360 and its sequel should not disappoint. I would really like to see various types of sidequest and planets. Further detail on the already existing universe is greatly appreciated.
Shepard KIA!? What..? How..? So now what? Shepards brain is put in a geth wearing the N7 logo, and all your skills and xp still carries over!! Sweet!! I´m super excited, and i´m sure Bioware is going to make it work somehow.
So N7 was a military rank right, like special forces or something?
Folks who had complaints about performance on the 360 should go back and install it to the hard drive. I did that that and it seemed to play smoother. Plus my disk drive was making a sound like a jet turbine.
