Nintendo's Wii Party Has 70+ Mini-Games

That's a lot of mini-gamin'.

Reggie Fils-Aime went straight scientific during the Nintendo E3 2010 press conference, pointing out that Wii sales aren't on the decline and that owners are still using their consoles. Then, he announced a first-party mini-game collection called Wii Party, which is apparently aimed at the casual audience who never let their Wii collect dust or rejected third-party titles.

Wii Party is a collection of over 70 mini-games embedded in 13 different game types. Like Wii Sports Resort or Wii Sports, the game prominently features user-created Miis and will support up to four-players in both competitive and co-op games.

The individual games appear to be rather simplistic. One game, for example, has users placing their controllers on a surface and listening to animal sounds that come from the device and from their TV. When the sounds match, the first person to pick up their controller wins.

Wii Party is slated to hit this Fall.

Maybe?

I'm unsure weather or not I'd purchase this, I'll just wait for the kids I babysit to get it.

In all seriousness, it could be worth the cash if it's anything like the Wii Sports series.

Looks like Wii Party has all the mini games. That spells the end for the lucrative bullshit mini game market. Rejoice!

Considering how addictive Wii sports is (saying as I still play it) i may have to agree.. we'll see how it is when it comes out.

Finally. It's about time the Wii got a mini-game collection.

(...I was so pleased with my snarky one-liner that I didn't even read the thread to see if the joke was already made, which, of course, it was)

Man, maybe this is a test. They weren't sure what people liked about Mario Party, so they decided to break it apart and do a Mario Montage Game (Hey, it should've been called Mario's Amazing Montage!)  and a party game to see which one was less crap.

Maybe they'll use this data in a few years to introduce a Mario Party reboot that doesn't have a number on it. Probably not because Mario Sports Mix hopefully won't do very well.

If the mini games are as high quality as the Wii sports ones, and they are connected as well as the early Mario Party games.
Then this could be fantastic.

Sure because this is what the Wii needs. More mini game collections. God forbid they make an actual game on the thing.

I'm both sad and happy that I don't know anyone that would even consider playing this.

At least they made this a side note and the whole presentation wasn't about WII <whatever> game this year! Nintendo party games are pretty fun.

I don't play "real" games on my Wii,
They are garbage compared to a decent console game, Or even... PC

Shit like this is the only reason I even play my Wii

I don't see what's to complain.

If this combines the awesomeness and accessability of Wii Sports with the minigame quality and gameplay mechanics of the first Mario Party games, it should make for a great game, especially with Avatar support. Hell, maybe the single player is even good (RRR TVP had a great multiplayer).

The name, of course, is horrible. But choosing any other name would have been stupid. The name alone will move 2 million copies.
