November Cometh, And With It Games

Let me distract you from your Halloween costumes for a minute to remind you that November starts tomorrow. That means a whole new mess of games you'll have no time to play!

November is typically the month when all the year's biggest, most hyped games come out, but this year I thought October was going to upset the competition with Fallout 3, LittleBigPlanet, Fable II, Guitar Hero, Far Cry 2, and a bunch of other stuff. Look at that lineup: that would be a healthy plate of games all on its own, even if nothing else was coming out for the rest of the year.

But...uh...I looked at the list for November, and, well, yeah. Take a look. This here's just a smattering of the releases I consider to be the most important, not even close to everything that's coming out. Gird your wallets!

Quantum of Solace FTW

I think 2008 is blowing 2007 out of the water for "best year in gaming."

Left 4 Dead and nothing else

Mirror's Edge, Call of Duty: World at War and Left 4 Dead. That's all I need!

Looking forward to Banjo and Resistance 2. I'll probably just rent Gears because I don't care too much about the competitive multiplayer, but the single player and co-op stuff is a lot of fun.

There are a few games on that list I completely forgot about.  That probably means other people have as well.  The James Bond game has had almost no press that I've seen, which makes me think it's a crap movie tie-in that will benefit from the new flick alone.

Resistance still looks like Resistance, and I was bored to tears by that game.  That big monster looks cool but it's so scripted and fake that it really just feels like a marketing gimmick to show folks.

LBP planet is Spore, in every way, hollow and over-hyped with nothing but peni and tits to keep it going.

Mirrors Edge is a FPS Dragon's Lair with some Prince of Persia thrown in.  It may do well in Europe, it has a very Euro feel to it with the techno and style.


Call of Duty has the odds stacked against it, but I think it may find a niche with people wanting something new after playing CoD4 all year.

Left 4 Dead is painfully undersold.  It looks like a great little game that takes what was attempted in RE: Outbreak years ago and finally does a multiplayer zombie game that's never been done.  I think it might've been helped if it either made it into the orange box last year, or some new game was boxed with it like HL2 Ep3 or Portal 2.  As it is, it probably should've been a $40 game since it really feels like a Source mod instead of a full game.

Gears 2 worries me of suffering from "more of the same syndrome".  I've heard rumors that it really goes beyond what the original did and it's closer to Resistance in scope than people imagine, but it's probably got more preorders than many of these other games will sell all year so Epic doesn't want to spoil the story like Resistance did.

And no PC GTA IV :(

Animal Crossing!  yay!  You all might want to double check your release date for that though, retailers all have it listed as the 16th.

I'm looking forward to only MKvsDC on that list, but also Smackdown vs RAW 2009 on the 9th, I think.

This is going to be a great month.  Gear of War 2, Banjo Kazooie, Left 4 Dead and Chrono Trigger are at the top of my list.

Well, that Zombie Mode is giving me a good impression, even if the beta was inferior on my opinion.  I love the violence and idead (even if it pretty much rips off L4D).

I had no idea Sonic Unleashed had even gotten a release date.

Hey, maybe I can dust of the Wii for Animal Crossing.

Hey, the video game release calendar is pretty nice.  What would be really cool is if you had that avaiable in an iCal file, so that it can be fed into other calendar programs.

I thought Quantum was going to be good too , but then I saw that there is no split screen multiplayer on xbox ... WTF

All great games, but when i think about what's gonna be the 'best game of the month/day/year/week (w/e)' you need to think about what you'll still be talking about in a year.  I think that the game that falls into that is mostly Gears of War 2, followed by Call of Duty: World at War, because the multiplayer will last you for a long time.  But there really is not terrible game on that list (except for PS3 exclusives because 360 pwns the PS3's ass)

Already have Dead Space, Midnight Club: LA, Fallout 3, Fable II and Far Cry 2 on backlog. And I haven't gotten my hands on Little Big Planet yet. Damn.

GOW 2, Mirror's edge, NFS undercover for me, I would buy Wrath of the lich king but I can't afford to get back in to WOW. Q4 being pretty good so far.

Resistance 2, Call of Duty: World at War, and maybe Mirror's Edge for me. And where the hell is Valkyria Chronicles?! That game's gonna be sweet!

Pretty underwhelming list actually! I allready pre-ordered GoW2 and Banjo and I don't have a PS3 (don't really want one) so thats about it! MK might be OK. Definitly better games on last months list!

PS. Why the hell is every one saying they'll get NFS and COD (back to crap) 5? Also played the Mirrors Edge and End War demos..... Shakes head, wow not an ounce of FUN there!

I'm interested in Resistance 2, Endwar, Gears 2, Mirror's Edge and Banjo Kazooie. The others, I don't particularly care for.

Gears 2 is definitely my most-anticipated game of the year and I can't wait for it to arrive.
