Pandemic Shutdown Leads to Office Space Tribute

The one good thing about layoffs is that it sometimes gives people the motivation to get out there and do something great, if only to spite their former employers. OK, that's probably not much of a silver lining, but it appears that a few "affected" guys from last week's deep cuts at Pandemic didn't wait too long to make something great.

So here's their tribute to Office Space, in which a printer is beaten into submission while tracks from the Geto Boys are played.

Best of luck dudes.  It's always a shame to see developers shutting down but what makes it worse is that, having played The Saboteur I can confirm it's bad assery.

It really is too bad for the studio being dissolved. The Battle Front games were among my favorite games last generation and would probably hold up pretty well today.

The Office Space thing is so overplayed.... but... I'm still sad about pandemic, so it's okay this time. So many closures and layoffs this year; the gaming industry is bleeding.

Thanks for working 12-16 hour days while making Sabateur for us. It just went gold. Clean out your office. We're letting you go. Even after making you feel guilty about only working an 8 hour day that one time in 2 months because your friend was in town for the first time in 2 years. Your paycheck is just deadweight to us now and doesn't look all that great for our bottom line. The suits still need their end of year bonuses too. Are the suits getting laid off too? No, they are being relocated and getting raises.

But I'd have run it over.  I used to work with that same model printer.  All day, every day.  That thing got off light.

Haha, it's hardly gangsta shit when they look so worried about getting their clothes covered in ink.  Still funny though.

You know, I think a swift poke at Mercs 2 or LOTR: Conquest is in order but looking back... Ugh... It makes me really sad to see Pandemic go... I had a ton of fun with the Battlefront games and Mercenaries 1 is one of my all-time favorite PS2 games. That game is fucking genius. Best of luck to all of them.

It's always sad to see a dev studio go, specially when it's not in the best of terms. Fly with the wind Pandemic, fly.

IGN did it four years ago.  And better I'd dare say.  Regardless, RIP Pandemic. :(
