Jack Frost lives in my head and there's only one way to get him out...
Even Chie would be able to piece this mystery together... I'll tell you straight out that I feel bad for Brad and Ryan, I really do. Between me running around the office screaming "BLACK FROST HO!" and Jeff going insane running his own private Persona 4 investigation, Atlus has penetrated our offices pretty deeply. With our 45-minute Quick Look of the upcoming Persona PSP release behind us, I think the rest of the boys were hoping to get a little Bufu respite, but alas, Atlus has to go and keep fanning those flames with some pretty strong evidence of a Persona 3 PSP release surfacing out of Japan.
This week's Famitsu is reporting that Persona 3 Portable will hit Japanese store shelves and Japan's PSN on November 1st, the same day as Japan's launch of the PSPgo. While I don't see any mention of when this will be available outside of Japan, there's really no reason to think Atlus wouldn't bring this over at some point. Personally, Persona 3 is where I got my first taste of the series, so it holds a special place in my heart and even though Jeff and I have spent over 80 hours during our Persona 4 Endurance Run, I'm still ready to head back and finish what I started in P3.
It's an Evoker, ok? It also seems like Atlus is adding some extra content on top of 2008's Persona 3 FES edition. Apparently, you'll be able to choose a lady instead of a male as your main character, which will obviously offer different interactions with the rest of the cast. Some other changes sound like they are being made to make the game mechanics a bit more comparable to Persona 4. There are also reports of visual changes to the Personas no matter what gender your main character is, but if that means I won't be popping myself in the head with an " Evoker" to summon a Jack Frost, then count me out!
So, while we wait for the official word from Atlus, and we all hold our breath for Persona 5, are there any old or new fans ready for some evoking on the go?

@LordAndrew: Junpei and the other non-social Link party members always had arcana associated with them. They just didn't mean anything since the same arcana were used for separate social link characters. Junpei, for example, is of the Magician arcana, which is the same as Kenji, so I guess if they really wanted to, they could drop Kenji and replace him with Junpei's Social Link.
Dude! PSP version sounds great, soon right after the Persona 1 release? But im more excited about this PSN release of it. Ive been wanting to get Persona 3 for a long time now, but my PS3 dosen't have Backwards Compatibility so I was screwed from the beginning. I was hoping that the rumour about BC comming as an update to all PS3s was going to come true, but after Sony only revealed the PS3 slium and price cut from their press confrence I lost hope. But hearing about this PSN Persona 3 is some of the best news to me ever! I hope they will release the PSN version in North America some time in 2010!
@LordAndrew: The girl's side will be different regardless of what they do, but the original game will still be in there, so I don't think it would cause any trouble if certain social links were replaced.

I imagine that some S. Links would have to radically change on the female path. Take Kaz for example. How would you S. Link with him if your not on the sports team with him?
If it's released here, I'm getting it. I just beat P3 FES about a couple weeks ago...for the second time. I love that game, and I'm sure with the improved interface it'll be nearly perfect.
I just picked up persona 3 fes on the cheap and I'm having a lot of fun, but I think I would not get it portable. It would either be thoroughly because I don't take 6 hour plane rides, or it would become the only thing I did so I could do everything in the game and I wouldn't be able to walk away. Both aren't really good options.
However, I personally feel that if Atlus DOES release this game, I think it;s kinda of a wasted opportunity. We all have the opportunity to go to a used game shop and buy P3:FES as long as you have a PS2/PS3. What we DON'T have an opportunity to do very realistically is play Persona 2: Innocent Sin (Yay, I can overpay for a rare PS1 game too!) and NONE of us have a chance to play a US version of Persona 2: Eternal Punishment.
Do I want P3 on the PSP? Yes....oh pardon me, I mean HELL YES! But I just want Atlus' effort in the immediate future to be for 2 games I never got a chance to pick up/play.

Why is this? I have a copy I found in a local games shop when I went to preorder P3 a couple of years ago. Wasn't even that expensive. I'd imagine there are plenty of copies still kicking around, especially if you're able to find copies of Innocent Sin.

It's the PSP PSN, not the PS3 PSN. It's still a PSP game, but it be available at retail as well as digital download. Just in case you were confused.
@LaszloKovacs: I believe he mistyped. Persona 2: Eternal Punishment was indeed released in the U.S. However, Persona 2's first half, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, was not.

As I've been mentioning on NeoGAF, I'm ready and willing to buy another version of Persona 3. The enhancements and promises of new content have me hyped. I'm almost done with FES and haven't played P4 yet but from what I can tell, the UI improvements and gameplay changes will make the world of P3 worth revisiting. :D

Nah Kenji's in to older women anyways. And as a straight male I have to say hell yeah to dating Junpei... and Akihiko... and Malelizabeth. God the female protagonist is going to be the biggest ho at the school.

@DragonofFate: i dunno. I feel like promiscuity on either end is just as bad. It might almost be worse as a guy. Minato really gets the romatic social link girls to fall in love with him. And then he betrays them by sleeping around. Thats pretty bad. They all seem pretty emotionally attached to him and it really seems like a dick move, whereas i think there would be a higher chance if the roles were reversed that more guys would be ok being friends w/ benefits. I think it was a really good thing that they added platonic social link options for female social links in persona 4, because i felt pretty bad about 2 timing chidori. I want my main character to be a 1 woman man. Or in the new version a 1 man woman.
At first, I wasn't interested in playing this game since I already played the original P3 and FES. But if they're making gameplay improvements so it's more in line with P4, that can only mean direct control of the party. Still not sure if I would get it, though...I guess it depends on how much they add to it.
I wonder what will happen to "Operation Babe Hunt" if you play as a female? I guess you'd probably be hanging out with the girls...it sounds like you'll be playing through the same story, but from the other perspective. I wonder why Atlus felt they had to do another version of P3, as opposed to a new Persona PSP game?

I feel that both Persona 3 and 4 lend themselves to be really great games to play on the go. Maybe its too early to want to go for a PSP port of Persona 4, plus I'm only 17 hours into P3: FES.
Persona 3 FES was 4.5 something gigs...Uhhhh back to the memory card shop just after getting one for FF7. But its cool how it is coming to PSN since I can get it striaght from Japan if I feel tolerant of no English. I really cant wait much longer than November since I got deep into P3 for about 16 hours but then my PS2 broke with the game in it. Just make sure Atlus will get an English version out before the year is over!
Screw this, there's no way I'm paying for Persona 3 a third time.

This sounds great. Also any word from anyone here bout the quality of persona's psp release? I saw the quick look but am wondering if it is as story enthralled as p4.Thanks. And i hope this does come here even if it takes years.

I was going to dismiss this since I've already played P3 several times, but playing a female might change the game completely. I have no problem picking up men in a video game. After all it's called roleplaying. Same reason I can be a total evil dark side badass in a game even though I certainly wouldn't irl.
I´m actually playing trough Persona 3 FES on the PS2 at the moment... and so far i love it! I´ll probably buy a PSP version of the game, but i´m planning on playing through Persona 4 and the upcoming Persona PSP. So maybe i´ll buy this Persona 3 PSP version just to support Atlus, and so they have some more money to spent on making Persona 5 even better!
