You'll have to pony up for a newer copy of Resident Evil 5 if you plan to rotate man-turret Chris Redfield with motion controls. Unspecified technical reasons have made it impossible for Capcom to patch in Move support for older versions of the game. The "Gold" edition, according to a recent PS blog post, will be the only one that will support long-anticipated patch this September.
"[The patch] will only work with RE5 copies labeled Gold edition," Sony media guy Sid Shuman explained in the post, "the original version won't be receiving the patch for technical reasons."
== TEASER ==The PS3 version of Resident Evil 5 Gold edition, which debuted in March, includes a digital bouquet of previously released DLC. The game's two optional episodes, Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape, as well as four costumes and two multiplayer modes are available on the disc.
If you already own Gold edition, you'll have to download the Move patch when it hits at some point close to Move's September 19 launch date. Later versions of the Gold edition though, as Shuman explained, will support Move out of the box--a cool feature for, you know, people who don't already own it.
I can't imagine this Move update news makes people feel good about keeping around their old Resident Evil 5 discs. But look at it this way: you just saved yourself some money on the skeet range, right?
