Resident Evil HD Collection Revealed in Famitsu

Code: Veronica and Resident Evil 4 are getting the "HD remaster" treatment on the Xbox 360 and PS3, at least in Japan.

Some hot Resident Evil news has cropped up in the latest issue of Famitsu. According to the ever-dependable Japanese gaming news Web site, Andria Sang, the Japanese mag has a total of four pages dedicated to a previously unknown title called "Resident Evil Revival Selection." Details are scarce as good translations creep onto the Internet, but it’s safe to go ahead and confirm that Revival Selection is an HD "remaster" that combines Resident Evil: Code Veronica X and Resident Evil 4

What’ll be different about these versions, or what particularly will earn them the remastered status as opposed to being mere rereleases, is still up in the air. Apparently, Famitsu says that Ada Wong’s “Separate Ways” campaign scenario from the PS2 version will be included in this latest version of RE4, a revelation that doesn’t necessarily inspire confidence in terms of new content creation. I should also note that Code: Veronica has seen a ton of releases since its initial one, just as RE4 has.

Look, a comparison screen has emerged!

Revival Selection is currently only confirmed for a Japan release on the Xbox 360 and PS3, though as MTV notes in their report about this, chances of a worldwide release seem good considering the size of the Resident Evil audience outside of Japan.  We’ll update this one as more details come in.
UPDATE:  And here's that update I was looking forward to. Both of these HD variants of these two games will indeed appear in the west, though not in a single, disc-based pack. Capcom has confirmed that RE4 HD and Code: Veronica X HD are coming to XBLA and PSN as two separate downloads later this fall. A price for either wasn't announced, but some new comparison screens of RE4 are available, at least.
