Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Is Real

So, that rumored Slant Six and Capcom Resident Evil collaboration is real. This morning, Capcom Europe unveiledResident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, a team-based third-person shooter. It appears that the game will primarily be played by two four-person teams, who are competing against each other while simultaneously dealing with zombies and other "Bio-Organic Weapons."
 
As for other modes available, Capcom has promised that Slant Six will “deliver a number of competitive online multiplayer modes,” all of which will “provide a unique gaming experience.” Despite the game's cooperative focus, it will be playable in some sort of solo format, as well.

    

I have no hope for this game. I got burned bad by Socom Confrontation so I probably won't be picking this up.

I'm pretty excited for this, it has a lot of potential to be something awesome. Or a complete mess...Hopefully something awesome.

I am way to stoked for this game.

Again Capcom handing its huge titles to questionable western developers. Do they really think this will work? First Devil May Cry to Ninja Theory, and now this... Slant Six couldn't even make a game you could actually play at launch and when it worked, you didn't really want to play it anyway.
 
I just hope these don't turn out to be terrible... Actually I guess I do hope these will be terrible so they will stop doing this and put these franchises back in the hands of the people who created them, and made them awesome. 
 
But I guess all of those people worked at Clover, and now Platinum Games or are doing weird team ups with other high profile Japanese devs. Oh well!

Well Devil May Cry hasn't come out yet and I think the fan reaction to Dante's new look is stupid, now if the game is garbage go right on ahead and dump on Ninja Theory but it isn't out. Now if you want to look at bad examples of Capcom western developed games Bionic Commando comes to mind.  "

Playing as an organized para-military unit in the Resident Evil-verse seems like such a weird concept. Unless all these hardcore soldiers are still gonna be dropped in the middle of the zombie apocalypse with a pistol, a knife, and a bagged lunch and mittens.

I'm still confused as hell as to what this game is. Is it competitive co-op arena based multiplayer with zombies? Is it like Demon's Souls/Mindjack with actual story progression? What is it?

My big question: will Tofu be in it?

This is a Resident Evil game I would actually consider playing. Although slant six does give me pause. 

Resident Evil without Shinji Mikami gives us RE5...I'm going to need to see more of this to convince me it's a good idea.

Hm... I don't know about this one. After renting SOCOM confrontation lets just say I thought the series would be dead after that but who knows. Maybe Slant Six learned from its mistakes on what not to do and improve its game quality. 

3rd person left 4 dead...ok gotcha.

This actually gives me hope for RE6. If the spin-off games in the series focus on the more action shooter-y type stuff that hopefully leaves the main entries left to be more atmospheric, slower-paced, survival horror like they used to be.

this could really go ether way, hope its on the good side. 

Sounds OK, but remembering the previous attempts at co-op RE games has me a bit more cautious.

I am really looking forward to more news about this game. I have high hopes.
