Secret Of Monkey Island Sets Sail For XBLA?

Shiver me timbers! LucasArts' seminal adventure game may be on the way to the Xbox's download service.

At least I can tell you who Guybrush and LeChuck are.

I'm probably going to do some serious damage to my gaming cred here (assuming I have any left to damage), but the only LucasArts PC adventure game I've ever played is LOOM. And I cheesed my way straight through that one using the old Windows Universal Hint System application. Hey, in the days before the Internet, at least it was cheaper than using a hint line.

Anyway, it seems I may be in luck--and if you've misplaced your Amiga, Atari ST, Sega CD, Macintosh, FM Towns, or IBM-compatible personal computer, so are you. The UK's Official Xbox Magazine reports that a German ratings board has let details slip about an Xbox Live Arcade release of The Secret of Monkey Island, one of LucasArts' original and most hallowed adventure games. In addition to kicking off the long-running Monkey Island series, it helped open the door for lots of other LucasArts adventures like Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle, and Sam & Max Hit the Road. It would be pretty wild if all those games started appearing on XBLA too; there's certainly precedent for it, what with Telltale putting its own new adventure games out on there.

Thanks for the tip, Matt!
