Sony Cuts Playstation 4 Price to $349.99

Might have to make the jump. SW Battlefront looks pretty enticing.

I was secretly hoping that the Last of Us bundle would forever be the main bundle for the system, because dammit EVERYBODY needs to play that game.

Countdown to Xbox One price drop begins... now.

I'm actually in the market for an Xbox One. Would like to pick up a 1TB console, crossing my fingers for a decent bundle with a game on disc (from Gamestop, if need be).

The 2015 end-of-year shopping spree wars have begun.

That being said the price of a PS4 in Japan is the price I want the PS4 to actually be.

So instead of us Canadians paying $50 more for a PS4 we now pay $80 more? Cool.

As someone who is about a week away from buying a ps4, i really hope they announce a price drop for the UK.

The price cut is welcome, but what I'm really holding out for is a redesign.

I bought an XBox One last month in Canada for $349.99. It was only the 500GB model but it came bundled bundled with Fifa 16, Battlefield Hardline, Rare Replay and 12 months of EA Access. There are quite a few $349.99 and even a few 1TB $399.99 XBox bundles available in Canada right now. At $429.99 plus tax the PS4 is still 92 dollars more - that might be a bit of a stretch for the term "equal footing".

I managed to sell my PS4 for about $50 more than what I paid for it back when it was collecting dust so the $350 Nathan Drake Bundle is catching my eye now. There's not much else for me there but I do want to play Zero Horizon

After my problems with both 360 and PS3 last gen, I have no issue waiting for hardware revisions. Still no "must haves" on either of the new consoles.

Might be tempted to get one now if I can get a bundle with some games I want to play.

@cavemancolton: I've known people that completely skipped the story and found the gameplay to be thrilling. I've also seen examples of people who normally don't give two craps about game stories give TLoU story a try and were won over on the concept of games driving a powerful story and characters. So yeah, I still think it has something to offer to virtually everybody.

The only exclusive right now that isn't a remake from a previous gen is still BloodBorne right? Even at this price I don't see any reason to buy one when I have a PC.

Ah, yeah I guess they did introduce the 1TB at the old 500GB price ($400). Which is still a bit cheaper than the 1TB PS4 ($429). So probably too soon to hope for a drop on the 1TB Xbox Ones.

Are you sure any of the 1TB PS4 bundles are going to be $429? Because looking at bundles as they are currently priced I get the impression that the $429.99 bundles are going to include 500GB PS4s and the 1TB bundles are going to be $499.99/469.99.

@fr0br0: I really wish my PS4 had been bundled with something other than Last of Us. I already owned it on PS3, and anyway I didn't think it was that great of a game. They didn't even give me a physical copy, only a download code, so I can't even sell it. I think it's weird to bundle a game that people might already own with a brand new system.

Edit: to be fair, I think I also had the option if an Assassin's Creed Unity bundle. But in my defense, it was Assassin's Creed Unity.

Hey duders, I get it - the Canadian prices look bad. But as @zgoon and @senate4242 posted, the exchange rate right now is baaaaaaad. Hypothetically, some of our fine American friends who live just over the border could try to grab a Canadian PS4 and actually save a few bucks in doing so.

Here are exchange rates for CAD - USD since the 50's. I still remember the last few big dips in the Canadian dollar in the 80's and 90's (plus, remember when we hit about $0.62 in 2003?!). If you take this stuff in at that perspective, it doesn't hurt any less but it can make sense.

It's still pretty crazy that the PS4 is more expensive then the $400 CAD launch price, but at least this is something. Coming from a Canadian who canceled his preorder to wait for more games, a price drop and/or a redesign.

The only one that I know is 1TB is the CODBLOPSIII bundle. Shows $429.99 price (USD) in the chart above, and Gamestop, BestBuy websites both show that price.

@tom_omb: Our dollar has dropped in value against the USD by 25% since then. I was hoping a price drop this year would bring it back in-line with launch prices but our dollar is really down in the mud right now.

To all the Canadians complaining. Learn about exchanges rates, please. The only time you're allowed to complain is when paying for gas, liquor, and cigarettes.....Oh and cell phone bills.

@whitegreyblack: I realize this, just pointing out another perspective. Americans can celebrate a $50 price cut and Canadians are waiting to see if it'll ever be at parody with launch. I'll still probably end up getting one before the year's out.
