Superstars V8 Owners Will Get A Shot At Winning Gran Turismo 5

The racing sim creator is throwing a contest without Polyphony Digital's help.

Owners of PSN racing game Superstars V8 Racing will soon be able to enter into an unusual contest to win copies of Polypony Digital's Gran Turismo 5. Starting on November 12, V8 Racing creator O-Games will begin posting a week-long series of in-game challenges for the racer via its Facebook page. Users who are able to fulfill the requirements of said challenges will be given a chance to win a copy of Gran Turismo 5 "whenever it ships."

"Superstars V8 Racing is the perfect game for racing fans to sharpen their skills as they wait for Gran Turismo 5," O-Games GM Greg Lanz said in a statement, "and what better way than to reward fans with a brand new copy of the game. Exactly when we can ship GT5 is anybody’s guess, but rest assured, we will send out prizes whenever it hits retail shelves."

It's important to note that O-Games doesn't have the direct support of Polyphony Digital on this one. In the disclaimer (which makes this all sound more than a little sketchy) it's mentioned that "the contents of this announcement and the prizes mentioned in this promotional release are purchased and brought to you on behalf of O-Games." Also, if Gran Turismo 5 doesn't hit by January 31 next year, O-Games "reserves the right" to offer winners a racing game for the PS3 of similar value to Gran Turismo 5. How one defines "value" in this case is probably limited to "equivalent dollar pricing," sadly.

Superstars V8 Racing is currently selling for $20 on the PSN, if you're still considering entering this thing.
