Welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight. I, @zombiepie, am once again honored to be your host as we look back at the important site-related news and best community creations from around the web!

First, many thanks to all who tuned in and even donated during Tamoor's Metal Gear Solid charity stream last week. He ended up raising over £11,000 towards Medical Aid for Palestinians!

Speaking of friends of the site having strong outings around the web, Bailey made her play debut over on the Good Time Society YouTube account. If any of you wants to watch a cozy murder mystery starring her, Becca Scott, Erika Ishii, Persephone Valentine, Emme "negaoryx" Montgomery, and Xander Jeanneret, this might be the video for you!

Second, as Grubb has affirmed, golf week is forever! If you still haven't picked up any Golf Week-themed merch, you can still do that on the Giant Bomb store. Remember, all purchases on the Giant Bomb store now go towards supporting the site and staff in the future creative endeavors! If you are wondering about the prices, they are:

I mean, just look at how snazzy this new Golf cap looks!

Also, the Giant Bomb Discord opened a new channel on their server called "career-and-jobs-talk" and it has already become the place for the community to talk about job searching, career advice, and decision-making. If that sounds like something you need, join the Discord using this link right here.

And now let's remind everyone about the incredibly important news that no one should forget about! The site's in-person streaming extravaganza, The Giant Bomathon, will start on Monday, October 27th at 2:00 PM PDT. Remember, this is a 24-hour stream. So, if you are at work when it starts, you should have a chance to join the fun while it's happening eventually. Also, don't forget that this is going to feature Grubb, Bakalar, Dan, Jan, Mike, Chuck, and Shawn plus some secret guests!

Finally, with the end of the year drawing nigh, don't forget about communicating with everyone you know that they need to log into their Giant bomb site accounts between now and the end of the year. If you really want to check to see if you're all squared away click this link.

If after clicking this link, you get immediately re-directed to the homepage, that means there's nothing you need to do. You'll only see a disclaimer with a button to click if you haven't already opted into the account transfer process.

Mike Glizzy Based Economy Mugs (By: Niklas Karlsson)

Niklas Karlsson has joined the fray in calling for the return of Giant Bomb mugs! However, they think after subjecting us to BBQ-based tomfoolery, the mugs should come at the expense of Mike's dignity. And honestly... they do have a point.

The Corn Field Runner(s) + Shadaloo Country Club Golf Tournament (By: @jearum)

Inspired by Dan telling a story about Ben Hanson running through a corn field, Jearum decided to revive their old Junji Ito-esque fan art design for this tribute to Ben Hanson.

Likewise, Golf Week reminded them of an old patch design they made for shits and giggles.

The Brisket Joke (By: Chris Davis)

No more and never again.

So... how much mental damage did you take listening to Mike's BBQ joke? Over on YouTube, Chris Davis spent about two hours transcribing Mike's attempt to tell the joke into the form of the Star Wars opening. As they point out, two hours is about the same amount of time it took Mike to tell the joke.

Indie Game of the Week 441: 8Doors: Arum's Afterlife Adventure (By: @mento)

Mento continues their spooky retro video game feature with a look at Sweet Home! What makes it so influential and an informative game that led to Resident Evil? Also, why aren't there more horror RPGs being made?

Likewise, this edition of their "Indie Game of the Week" feature looks at 8Doors: Arum's Afterlife Adventure! Despite the slightly long title, is there anything special about this 2D metroidvania game to set it apart in a crowded field?

The Quest For The Worst Adventure Game Puzzle: The 11th Hour Is So Much Worse To Play Than 7th Guest [Part 2] (By: @zombiepie)

Man... website design use to be good.

With Mike reviving their efforts to wrap up their playthrough of The 7th Guest, moderator ZombiePie returned to the weird and wild world of The 11th Hour, the game's sequel! Not only do they have puzzles that would make Mike groan, but they also found some fun earl-career reporting from Geoff Keighley as seen to the right!

Hey, Look, Diablo 4 Is Better Now (By: @atheistpreacher)

Once again an AthiestPreacher blog from a while back seems to have gotten a mini revival of sorts. This time, a handful of people commented in their Diablo IV blog for about a year ago to echo something that Mike has been saying repeatedly: playing Diablo IV has gotten a lot better recently.

Discussion Threads

What's Your Reaction To The Reviews Of The Asus ROG Xbox Ally/Xbox Ally X Being All Over The Place? (By: @zombiepie)

The reviews being all over the place seems to echo the device itself being that.

This week saw the release of the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X and the reviews are somewhat all over the place. Some people seem to view it as having a niche in the handheld/portable PC arena whereas others have been ripping apart for being nothing like what Microsoft promised. Join our conversation in the thread and feel free to share if you ever plan to buy the device.

Name Me An Episode Of Television That Is Way The Hell Better Than The Show In Which It Appeared (By: @atheistpreacher)

We have a fun thread this week that a lot of y'all seem to have been joining in on!

Here's a fun discussion on the forums: What's a show you either dislike or are not a fan of that has a pretty good or outright great single episode? Here's an example from the thread to get all of you thinking about the show or shows that come to mind.

Good Story, Bad Game (By: @captainofthestars)

I think we all can think of at least one game in our collection that falls into this category.

I think everyone has their own examples, but what are games that have good to great stories or characters that you relate to, but consider the game they are in either boring or just not great overall? Have you ever thought "Man... this character deserves a better game!"

User Reviews

Does this deserve to be a recurring spin-off in the world of Nintendo?

@djcube decided to boot it up, but remember when Namco decided to revive the Dead to Rights franchise? How well has the now twenty-three year-old effort to get people thinking about Jake Slate and his furry canine companion aged? Read all about it!

@djcube's The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom review shares why they not only loved the game but they also think this adventure with Zelda really deserves to become a full-on spin-off franchise from now on.

@djcube's Split Fiction review shares why they think it fully deserves to become everyone's default go-to cooperative game, compared to their previous picks like Portal 2, when trying to play games with video game newcomers.

Wiki Of The Week

Tomonobu Itagaki

Itagaki had a brand and never lost sight of that.

As mentioned in the tribute thread above, the passing of Tomonobu Itagaki has taken the video game community by surprise. As many still try to process the news, here's a reminder that Giant Bomb still has an incredible wiki page highlight his career highs and lows, including one of my favorite goofs on the entire Giant Bomb wiki.
