It's that time of the year again!

Welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight! I, @zombiepie, am once again honored to be your host as we look back at the site-related news and best community creations from the previous week!

If you are reading this the day it comes out, we are only a two days away from The Giant Bombathon! If you are still out of the loop, from October 27th to the 28th there will be a 24 hour in-person steam and membership drive! The staff are busy using the weekend to get where they need to be, rehearsing the hilarious scripts and bits they have planned, and testing the hardware to make sure nothing blows up. Obviously, if you miss it or can only tune in for part of the event, a VOD will be up on the site and on YouTube.

Nonetheless, don't forget that this is a membership drive. For those of you that don't have Premium, get on the ready to re-up your subs when the stream starts. For those of you already maxed out or have lifetime subs, please consider one of the following options. If you have friends that are into games, encourage them to create a Giant Bomb account and gift them a subscription. As we inch closer to the transition to the new site, new blood would be greatly appreciated. Also, consider chipping in to Giant Bomb's Ko-Fi page if gift subs doesn't work for you. The nice thing about Ko-Fi is that you can donate whatever amount suits your current financial situation.

And for those of you that can't donate or subscribe, don't worry, you are absolutely welcome to tune in and enjoy the fun. This stream is open to everyone, regardless if they are premium subscribers or not. Also, given how things often go, you might catch a gift sub if you tune into Giant Bomb's Twitch feed if you are lucky!

Next, let's talk about Extra Life 2025! As I mentioned in the announcement thread I posted this week, I'm the Team Captain this year for Giant Bomb's Extra Life efforts. I'll be coordinating with the staff and Chuck to get community streams and updates out there. Right now, we are really looking for people who are streaming games on Twitch or YouTube that just don't have an Extra Life team. Even if you can't stream on Game Day (November 8) or even if you only stream a few times a month, if you are playing games on the internet between now and the end of the year, join the team and see if anyone in your audience can send you and the Giant Bomb team a few bucks to help out kids in need.

And for those of you that do think you can stream during Game Day, there's a form you can fill out so I can fill out a schedule to host community streams on the site! Again, check out and use any of the handy links below if you have even the slightest interest in participating in Extra Life this year!

For those of you that have been following Bakalar's What Lies Below the Lilies webcomic, the series released its final 20th episode of its initial season! For the final 5 episodes that are paid-only, you can save 10% by bulk-purchasing them.

Finally, with the end of the year drawing nigh, don't forget about communicating with everyone you know that they need to log into their Giant bomb site accounts between now and the end of the year. If you really want to check to see if you're all squared away click this link.

If after clicking this link, you get immediately re-directed to the homepage, that means there's nothing you need to do. You'll only see a disclaimer with a button to click if you haven't already opted into the account transfer process.

If you still are not able to log into the beta site and have premium, DM chucktowski on Discord with your username and email and he can sort it out.

Speaking of the possible end of Xbox hardware as we know it, it seems more than apt to return to Gamer_152's write up in response to the Game Pass price hikes and return to their discussion about what the price hike says about where Xbox is at right now. Not to spoil it, but nothing good.

User Reviews

Is the AAA horror game dead?

@gamer_152's The Callisto Protocol review shares why they felt unsatisfied by it mechanically and morally as a total experience even if it looked nice and had spooky moments. Also, they share why its failure feels like the end of modern AAA horror games.

@doomocrat's Hades II review relays why they think the game was so close to greatness but missed the mark ever so slightly. They still enjoyed the game, but a few niggling nitpicks annoyed them enough that they couldn't help but think about how it could be better.
