Thursday Night Throwdown 08/11: Left 4 Dead 2

Grab your chainsaws and shotguns, we're headin' down to the Big Easy to whip the necrotizing flesh clean off some zombie ass in Left 4 Dead 2 on this week's edition of Thursday Night Throwdown! If that's not hot enough for you, we'll be playing alongside none other than Chet Faliszek from Valve!

You can expect a little bit of everything from our two hours of nightmare melee, though as active members of the L4D2 community already know, Valve has been publicly beta-testing new maps, with Dead Air being the current target. To help sweeten the deal, an achievement called "Connecting Fights" for finishing Dead Air in Versus mode has been added. Once 60,000 people have earned this achievement, Valve will unlock a beta version of their next map, Blood Harvest, and we'll be doing our part to help reach that goal!

This is great.  I love Left 4 Dead more than I probably should.  I never stopped playing it up until 2, and still play 2 today at least 3 or 4 times a week.  Considering how long it takes to complete a vs match or campaign, the odds of getting an invite are even slimmer than the usual TNT, but it still should be fun to watch. 
 
Ryan laughing maniacally every time Brad was attacked in the Passing DLC quick look last year tells me they'll have fun with this one.

A bit disappointed there won't be any 360 action, but this should be a good watch.

Oh man, if they end up playing versus mode, when they play as the survivors the other 3 people will be safe every time as long as the Giant Bomb staff member is alive. I can't wait to watch their attempts at completing the maps fall apart.

Have Ryan/Jeff/Vinny/Anyone but Brad even played L4D2?

There're still plenty of games in that suggestion thread that they haven't gotten to yet. Would hate to see TNT go back to first person shooters week after week.

OH well If they are playing the real game on  PC and not the crap xbox 360 one with bad controls I am so in on this.  
Besides only people on PC play the game correctly online anyway if they did this anywhere else people would just aim at things with jerky slow analog stick movements and miss 80% of the time and be filled with 11 year olds asking why this is not like crap call of duty or resident evil game because some parent was dumb enough to let them online with a headset.

This game should make for some great TNT action. I won't be able to play since I'll be at a concert, but I'm excited to check it out later that night/on Friday.

350? I've got just shy of 900 and I consider myself a noob still. The 1200-1800 players will shut a match down themselves. They will have to pick and choose players based on their hours or the server restarts will be non-stop.

I'm gonna keep ringing that bell: Tribes 2 TNT. Make it happen.
