Due out in Ubisoft's finacial 2014 year (April 1st 2013- March 31st 2014) a new game has been confirmed to investors. All that has been revealed is that there will be a new setting and a new main protagonist. Rumors of a Brazil setting are floating around.
Assassin's Creed
The Assassin's Creed franchise follows the never-ending, secret war between the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templar Order, in various historical settings, told from the perspective of the modern day.
New Assassins Creed Confirmed, new setting, new main character.
This is nonsense. They messed up with AC3 and now they're going for another within more or less a year with an all new setting and character? I mean if they decided to continue AC3 like they did with AC2 maybe they could fix it but if they're starting from scratch i'm not hopeful for something better. Not in that short a time. And realistically, even if they have two teams working on those, the A-team would be the one who made AC3.
I'm stupidly excited for the next AC. Multiplayer, next gen. All. I'd think it'd be cool if they did something like, 50 person rooms of people fighting each other, ala Chivalry. Other than that, I'm not very samert, I don't Really know what else they can do for NextGen Assassins. Brazil, and all that? ~ Sign me up!
I'm pretty much done with the Assassin's Creed series after Revelations and III, so this had better be really good if I'm going to buy it.
For me II was the high point of the series. Brotherhood was solid, but it didn't hook me as much as II did. Also, the ending of II is still a big mindfuck.
Oh joy. If they are making a game similar to 3 I have zero interest. Remember Assassin's Creed 2? That game was great.
This is one franchise in need of a nap. I'd love to see another game in the franchise but...not for awhile.
Seeing as ACIII shit all over the entire story and still managed to be a bad game I think I will remain cautious with this one.

I'm honestly surprised it took AC3 for most of you to jump off the train. I was off after brotherhood once I saw them doing a 3rd Ezio game.
I think most of us just hoped that they would tie it all together and really move forward with the ACIII. Unfortunately, aside from some awesome naval combat, it was mostly steps backwards. If they can't at least match Brotherhood in terms of gameplay and story, then they should just quit
I loved Assassin's Creed real nice, and AC3 sucked real nice. I'm done with Assassin's Creed so nice.
Nothing short of a radical and revolutionary overhaul of the game's very DNA (geddit) would make me play it. We've had enough of your pseudo open world, myriad of cutscenes and same stabbity stabbing, Ubisoft.
Also Desmond has to sacrifice himself and just DIE for the sake of this franchise.

Considering they fucked my good faith with ACIII, I sincerely hope this flops hard.
It won't. You might think we have anything to say regarding AC sales numbers but with 10 million+ games sold, the regular Jo's of the world are the ones that buy this thing in mass and, talking to a few of those guys, they didn't have any problem with AC3.
I would rather play a 4th Ezio game than a sequel to 3.
I didn't like 1 AT ALL, and 3 just never took off (great reveal moment though). I'm beginning to think the only thing I like about Assassin's Creed was Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

Well at least for me i was really down on brotherhood because it felt like a cash grab in every way possible, but it surprised me at how it improved the few problems i had with AC2. Being rewarded for being more of an assassin rather then go here kill this dude, and i came around in believing Ezio was an assassin. Revelations was disappointing for being nothing new. Ac3 is just a mess of a game so yeah that better do something really grand.
I said no to Revelations and 3, will do the same to this unless they severely overhaul it.
- The combat is terrible (we'll just stand here watching while you kill us one at a time)
- They make you do tutorials for hours and hours of the games (why aren't these optional? you really need to explain basic mechanics in the 4th game?)
- No sign of the modern day shit going away, that part of the story is always the least interesting and to me just detracts from everything

I actually really liked that character and time period. I would have played those games even if the near-future aliens animus nonsense wasn't there. Revelations wasn't great... but at least I wasn't bored to tears. I actually liked playing as Old Ezio, but I realize that's not exactly a popular opinion.

You wouldn't rather it just be an awesome new game? That's a really weird viewpoint... Why would you want bad games?
Because they took my money for a game that still won't run on my machine? Because they've done literally nothing to address the issues with their game that have prevented me for playing more than 3 hours of it? Because I'm never going to buy another game in that franchise again?

I know, but one can dream.
Honestly, there have been more games in this franchise that have disappointed me than ones that haven't. Not sure why I bought the hype for ACIII and gave them another chance. I've checked out now. If this gets great reviews and addresses all of the issues that plague the series, then I might be back on board.
After 3 I have no interest in Assassins Creed. Apparently it took them 3 years to make last years bugfest of a game so doing this in 1 has me worried.
They didn't take your money. You gave it to them.@Bumpton said:

You got an inferior product than the one you were promised, but you still gave them money for it.

I’m so far behind on the series that I probably won’t be in a position to play this game for years, but I hope it works out. It sounds like AC3 could have been better, but it wasn’t a disaster — its problems appear to be a result of it being rushed out.
I don't agree. The game is flawed is design.
