@cjmhockey: I agree. The prospect of using what is essentially cash for decorations completely throws me off. I must admit though, if an item was released that represented my tastes in games perfectly (such as a Ryo's jacket from Shenmue) I would truthfully give in and spring for the purchase.

I also enjoy sending a few more dollars to the makers of my favorite franchises. (especially those that saw poor sales i.e. Shenmue)
I think people who don't like avatars are completely allowed to not like avatars, and people who DO like them will have no problem dropping a couple points for something.
Also, with the increase in game add-ons that are costing 560 points, that "burning a hole in my pocket" feeling from the oddly numbered amount of points left on an account can REALLY drive some folks crazy.
@jakob187: Yeah, the points left over getting to people never will made sense to me. I never have felt the urge to buy something due to leftover points. I suppose that is because I keep a pretty heft balance of MS points on tab and don't add them for specific things. If something is worth buying, I just do it. I feel like some add points specifically to purchase one thing.
I just hope that avatar awards hit soon. I would love to have a MW2 riot shield (thats not a weapon right?) for full starring all the spec ops missions. (They said avatars cannot hold weapons, which is strange because I wonder what they think that light saber is?)
