Would this game even get a sequel anytime soon? Blitz went from the 2003 season  (with a license) to 2005's Blitz the League. BTL 2 came out in 2008. The only reason they can get away with yearly Maddens is to reflect players who change teams. Does Natural Motion plan on having a game come out next year? If the NFL goes on strike, you never know.

Given that it's $30, I would say that a patch like this could cause a resurgence of goodness...if the patch does what it's supposed to do well.

Was really looking forward to Backbreaker until the reviews started filtering in. Will be nice if this patch fixes up all of it's issues :)

This update is trespassing on my desire to dislike this game.

I wonder if this warrants a post-patch review of the game by anyone.
1up did this for their SOCOM: Confrontation review (went from C+ to B+ after the patch), but that's probably because the game was practically broken before it was patched.

Gotta give em props for supporting the game like this, at least, as well as trying something new. Even if it didn't end up being amazing, this game certainly caught my interest more than the next madden.

BackBreaker was a fun game for those who weren't super technical about football games and like watching ragdolls collide semi-realistically.

Hmmm... I might try renting this when the patch is released.

Too bad there's no real easy-to-find meter for the success of fixes.

I'm interested in this game now. From what I've heard it was never really a terrible game, it just had broken things. Got to love the age of updates.

Oh hey, football.

Speaking as a person who doesn't know shit about football rules, don't give a crap about the NFL, but do enjoy watching digital dudes to bad things to each other with cool physics: I liked backbreaker a lot, and it's gonna be nice to not have the AI rough the passer as often. But I still want "Boom" playing at every kick off :P

If this patch really works and fixes most of the things that people found to be bad, I sort of hope the game gets a little re-review. This sort of dedication to a major flop is rare, so in my opinion the developers deserve it if they really manage to improve the game drastically.

Might be worth picking up on the cheap now.

Perfect timing with Madden coming out next week.  But I'm too deep of a Madden fanboy to even think about switching. haha.

Will the players play actual football now?

This patch needed the inclusion of Canadian football rules. This game would be a Canadian's best hope for a CFL game. Natural Motion, get on that shit, for real.

While it goods to see some competition for Madden and a developer taking its time to listen to its fanbase and fix problems, this never had a chance.

I'm hoping backbreaker 2 or perhaps 3 will solve all the issues. It seemed like it could be a contender!

If this was Madden, those changes would justify an entirely new game.
