    Overview

    Basilisk 2000, also known as Basilisk - 2000, is an indie metafictional exploration game developed and digitally published by KIRA for the PC on March 29, 2023.

    Designed around the concept of lost media, Basilisk 2000 is described as an unfinished build of an unreleased 2000's-era first-person computer RPG, which players can explore through a fake level editor. Although the game has no explicit goal, players can use the editor's tools and their observations to find and unlock new areas and learn the deep, dark secrets about the game and the team developing it.

    The game being explored is also described as a "spiritual successor" to an "unreleased Super Nintendo game" known as "Basilisk". That game was earlier released for free on February 2, 2022, which is played in a fake emulator (known as "SNESy+").
