Overview
Bass fish come in different varieties, including striped bass, largemouth bass, and smallmouth bass. The striped bass specifically is the state fish of South Carolina, Maryland, and Rhode Island. Because bass are so prevalent and large in population, they are extremely popular among recreational anglers, although they are also caught for food as well.
There are many species of bass, including (but not limited to), Australian bass, Chilean Bass, and giant sea bass. All species belong to the Perciformes order of vertebrates.
Because bass is so popular, many video games centered around fishing use the fish in its title.
