I only have a couple of requests. One is that they should focus the experience on being a lot tighter, with a gripping story. Another is to make the gadgets and riddler stuff more fun and accessible. Lastly, they have to put in some quotes from Batman: TAS. I mean, come on.
Batman: Arkham
Rocksteady Studios and WB Montreal's superhero series that focuses on a more dark and serious Batman.
Next Batman Game - What do you want?
Please let me use Nightwing to roam the city. Also, I want the main villain to be Hush and maybe a love story.
- Release at the same time on consoles and PC
- Work just as well on PC as on console (no shitty-port syndrome)
- Feature Batman
- Adam West and Nolan North both voice Batman (he's schizophrenic)
A couple ideas. They are running out of bad guys from Batman, so one idea is to move the series entirely into Justice League. That way you could fight villains from around the world. Another possibility is to have some incident where the heroes all disappear and Batman assembles a group of ragtags to fight the army of baddies. Also there could be a war between Earth and Earth 3 or Bizarro World. There also could be one where you play s bad guys too...just sayin.
Better sneaking, I felt that in AC that it wanted you to brawl more than sneak around and take everyone out. If I were to pop one of the games in today it would be Asylum.
Get rid of the open world. As well as they pulled it off it didn't add anything to the game besides taking a bit longer to get where you need to go.
How about an ninja game because the final battle with the batman using the sword was fantastic. Rocksteady do the next Ninja Gaiden?

Nothing. I was done after the second one. They need to start from scratch and make something new, not just add more to it.
Why? The Arkham formula is incredible and there's still so much they could do with that style of game. Why change what works?
I just don't get excited playing mostly the same gameplay more than once. If the original is truly outstanding like Arkham Asylum was i'm perfectly happy with playing another one of those but it's just not new anymore and past that i get bored easily. If i want to play more of the same i have no problem replaying the same game multiple times especially if its the game where all my good memories of discovering something new are.
What I want from a new Batman game is to not have Joker as the main villain (yes, I beat Arkham City, and no, Mark Hamill being 'retired' doesn't mean shit)
That, and to have co-op in some fashion. Imagine having a group of like 60 guys, and even though your hitting dudes and their bodies go flying, the other player can still hit those enemies from mid-air, though it could cause your combo to break so only really close co-op partners could make an effective combo; however it should just flow nicely no matter what.
Also, imagine the stealth parts in co-op. There'd be sections in the single player campaign where theres no way in hell you could beat them with just one player, so you bring in another player. Maybe stuff like the way some guards are stationed theres NO WAY a single person could get past, so they need another player to make a distraction or unlock a timed gate or something.
Oh and also a Jonah Hex flashback sequence.
I know it's probably not going to happen but i would love to see the court of owls as the villains in the next batman game

Maybe not make the whole game about stealth, if they go in that direction.

I thought they missed out on fun story ideas along with game play by not integrating other playable characters. It is fine to have the focus be on Batman but offering side missions more along the lines of Catwoman's sections are a great idea.
I'd really like it if they'd stop using the Halle Berry-esque costume for her. And if we are to play as her in any other games, give her more abilities! Or at least something to balance out the lack of tech she has to make sneaking and stalking with her feel more natural.
Another path they could take is to incorporate more of the "Court of Owls" into the game. That could also necessitate teaming up with other JL heroes...
Or heck, bring back the Clock King and make him awesome again.
Definitely a little more focus like AA had. Less characters, more characterization. I enjoyed swooping around as Bats but there were so many distractions and things to do, it was almost too much. The main story suffered for it, IMO.
I never liked the arkham games because I hated the combat in that game.I want one that focuses on the stealth aspect of batman. He is the coolest when he comes out of nowhere to one shot badguys and fuck with their heads then some repetitive match a symbol fighting system.
A more developed overworld, probably.
In the sense of interaction more than anything. Arkham City was great, but imagine that same story transposed to the actual Gotham City, with Batman slinking around and civilians cagily walking home trying to avoid a multitude of supervillians and their cronies.
Batman: Gotham, basically.
So I know Activision kind of dropped the ball with the recent Spiderman games by adding future Spiderman 2099. But I wouldn't mind seeing Rocksteady exploring the future Batman Beyond world in a game. Was a huge fan of the show and liked the feel of a futuristic blade runner world but through the eyes of batman. New gadgets, new Gotham, new enemies, possibly the return of older enemies?
I want them to incorporate Batmans shadow, So when you do stealth stuff you could freak the hell out of the thug with it!
I would want something akin to the Dark Knight Returns I think. That would hopefully lead to some real gameplay changes. As much as I like what these games do I think they should probably change it up in the next one.

A little soon for that, Batman games normally go ten years back when picking up comic book arcs. I wouldn't mind a twist on Under the Red Hood, the ending of Arkham Asylum practically hands you a significant difference with which to play out the story.
As far the setting goes I don't think you can simply place it in the entirity of Gotham and call it a day. Send Batman across different areas of the DC Universe, have him interact with Robin, Nightwing, Superman, WW, GL etc. It would be a Justice League story, but played from Batman's perspective.
As much as I want it, no way the court of owls stuff is gonna be in a new batman game. I mean if its technically in the same universe as the animated series, maybe a batman beyond game would be possible . I really like the beyond stuff , and it could change up the gameplay enough to make it fresh.

I want it to be an MMO, where everyone is Batman. It should control pretty much like Arkham City, except with collision detection during the gliding sequences so people would fly into each other left and right all the time. Make this happen.
The only form of audio communication between players should be "I'm Batman!"

I don't think I want another batman game, they risk getting really samey. Maybe take a similar approach with a new hero?
Yeah, either roll that concept up into a new superhero franchise or do something completely different with Batman. I love those games, but don't run it into the ground.
A retro mode that lets me play as Adam West Batman, complete with low-budget costumes, awesome Batmobile, Bat-Shark-Repellent, and full-screen exploding text effects whenever I punch someone.
I want episodic stories/missions. each one about an hour or so long with a different villain. Let us play as Nightwing or run with Nightwing or Robin in missions where it's appropriate. An overarching story would be ok, but not required. By doing episodic, each mission could have a different feel and possibly a different playstyle. I loved Arkham Asylum, but 6 to 8 hours of beating up the same goons got kinda old. It's the main reason I haven't rushed to play City, yet.
@Ubersmake: YES. of all the hairbrained DLC they crammed out for Arkham City how was this not one? All the Thugs in turtleneck sweatshirts, the Joker having a semi-visible mustache, have the classic music playing when you fight.
- Big proper open world.
- Vehicles.
- Batmobile which turns into a jet because that's awesome.
- Streamlined gadgets, like instead of 4 different baterangs just have 1 which you can press a different button to use different variants.
- More unique gadgets.
- Cross over guys making an appearance.
- Bat cave.
If that's how you play, of course the fighting system won't be fun. Going for awesome combos is the best.I never liked the arkham games because I hated the combat in that game.I want one that focuses on the stealth aspect of batman. He is the coolest when he comes out of nowhere to one shot badguys and fuck with their heads then some repetitive match a symbol fighting system.

Polite criminals without potty mouths.
You've gotta admit, compared to the rest of the game's themes and narrative, the swearing just seemed out of place. Like a bad attempt at grounding the thugs into some kind of "WE'RE TOUGH AND CAN SWEAR TOO" element that just felt cheap.
i was really disappointed with city, the main thing i want from another batman game is a decent story told well, focusing on three or four characters,
with city they tried to mention just about everyone and then just kill almost everyone off instead of dealing with them properly which lessened the impact of certain plot points like jokers death which still felt strange and unnecessary
i also felt the open world was underused and lacked the scale of a city, it was just asylum without loading times, but the mechanics of gliding through the city were fun; but the city needed to be a lot larger, i didnt feel like you were one man in the city, after a couple hours you knew where everything was and just went around kicking everyones ass,
i mention the way in which the story is told is important to me because city was horribly paced; i dont understand why the side quests were labelled as such, they should have tried to integrate that into the narrative as they were some of the better parts of the game and the main story was quite underwhelming considering the villains involved
maybe more freedom, a couple of things really stood out for me; when azrael would just appear after a mission, i realised later it wasnt randomly generated but the first couple times i noticed him by accident and that felt special; also a similar experience with the identity theft quest line where you had to find the bodies without any help, stuff like that where you have to really explore and pay attention to your surroundings
its still one of the best playing games from a mechanical and gameplay perspective but i think greater care with the setting, characters and story would go a long way to making a really great game, which is what the first one pretty much was; i consider it among my favourite games and as tight and well produced as some of nintendo's zelda games
sorry for the long post but ive recently replayed it and i really enjoy some parts and but am still greatly disappointed by it
