Warning: playing this game may cause a dark tomorrow.

I've always been a batman fan, especially of the comics. So when I heard about this game, I got interested. Finally I saw this at Gamestop one day for $6.99, so I bought it. But now, thinking back, I wish I just left it on that shelf. Not surprisingly, you take the role of batman, as he gets tied into a plot involving all his arch-enemies. I don't want to spoil the story, but there's really nothing to spoil. The plot is thin, uninteresting and rushed. I'll leave it at that. The game actually gave me a great first impression with the opening cinematic. All the cinematics here are great. Lengthy, good voice acting, and they resemble a movie. That's good, because these boil down to the only saving grace this game has. The controls...OH GOD the controls....Its like the developers really hated batman. The controls are so bad, that its difficult to even turn around. Batman controls like a drunk squirrel on ecstasy. And also, the controls just have bad configurations. B is to jump, A s to punch, R is to use handcuffs, like WTH? Its completely messed up. To jump higher you have to hold down the button, and to do combos you have to hold down the L button. I think I'll leave the controls at that. Then there's the gameplay...you're encouraged to use stealth, but it rarely ever works, and its pointless, because you can just run around and brawl enemies. Whats really dumb is that most enemies take about 5 regular punches, but if you move while attacking, you'll completely knock them out. What were they thinking? Batman gets knocked down and stunned easily, and it just makes him look pathetic. The levels are ugly and badly designed. But wait, I didn't even mention the Camera, if you even want to call it that. You cant move the camera. Its always fixed, and it changes after every room. It jitters around mindlessly and confuses you to the point where you can get lost in a room. Pathetic. The boss fights are unfair and way too hard, which is too bad, because you get to fight a lot of cool villains. There aren't any vehicle levels except a hang-glider level which is probably the worst part of the game. Batman has tons of gadgets, but most of them are useless except the medical kits bat cable. He has night vision goggles which make him blind, smoke bombs which only stun one enemy at a time, and so on. To put it bluntly this game stinks. A huge disappointment considering how good, or even mediocre it could have been. Don't pick this game up unless you really want the cinematics, which might just be enough to warrant a $4-$5 price tag if you're a huge batman fan. Otherwise, walk past this pile of Bat-crap.
