I plan to start playing Battlefield 2 soon and ive seen alot about the Project Reality Mod. So i have a few questions.

    Is it worth downloading?

Is the learning curve for a new player very steep, or can you adjust quickly?

and has the mod caused any technical issues ?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I can only say the learning thing will probably be easy, as the core game is pretty easy to play. I haven't played any expansion so I can't help you there.

Project Reality is absolutely worth it. I've put many hours into both BF2 and PR and PR is totally different experience. It does have a steep learning curve and if you're dedicated enough to read the wiki and go on the training servers, it can be tons of fun.

I tried it out a couple of days ago, and I didn't like what I played. It's a frustrating experience, even working together closely with squadmates. You'll rarely get kills in the larger maps - the game just devolves into a big spotter standoff with the occasional helicopter assault, which gets shot down in two seconds by flak and stinger missiles anyway. Also, the mod has REALLY bad stability. My game must have crashed once every 20 minutes.

I think some people really like Project Reality because it's a very unique experience - sort of a super-realistic operation flashpoint on a good-looking engine with objective-based gameplay. As for me, my sort of "realism" shooter is more of an arcadey experience with realistic weapon handling, like Red Orchestra.
