It won't have steam achievements and won't use your steam userid, as it will just launch Origin. So really no advantage other than easier access to the overlay?

@Rhaknar: Even if that were the case, I'd actually find that set up slightly more inconvenient. Not that I don't already have origin and steam running, but the idea of going into steam to launch a game that loads up origin...

Maybe I'm not quite seeing this, but if we're going to still require origin, I feel like I'd rather just have it on origin by default. Not that I'm supporting origin or anything.

It'll be too funny if that requires you to launch steam, select play title, it then auto launches origin which would require you to click play title again, followed by launching your browser for battlelog/battlefield facebook, followed again by launching the actual game. As much as I love Battlefield, I really feel like Rube Goldberg was project manager on this thing.

no way in hell that EA would give up origin this easy

even if you could buy the game on Steam (at the normal extremely overpriced cost of 1.5 x retail value) you still would need origin to play the game

Fucking Punkbuster, I hate it, it is the bane of first person shooters everywhere, VAC is better.

I per-ordered at Gamestop cause i didn't want to buy it on origin, so I'll add me CD-key to steam? Well it be worth it for friends list.

I was under the impression that you are still required to run Origin for the multiplayer component of the game.

That is, of course, unless someone would care to correct me.

After seeing how Origin actually works with the out of game web browser, my excitement for the game has taken a nosedive. I just hope Mass Effect 3 is on Steam.

Not being on Steam would hurt Battlefield 3's release simply because there are some PC gamers to rely entirely on what Steam is selling. That said, BF3 is a big game so who knows exactly.

@bwmcmaste: You do, i just don't feel comfortable giving my money directly to origin for a digital download. I actually bought a physical copy cause of the origin EULA scares of not being able to re-download your game. Also i was hopping something like this steam deal might happen where i just put my cd-key form the box into steam.

@Beaudacious: Only Steamworks games work with CD-keys like that.
