Well shit.
Battleship
Game » consists of 6 releases. Released May 15, 2012
Battleship is a tie-in to the movie of the same name that is loosely based on the board game of the same name. Don't let aliens sink your battleship!
This game came out.
I believe the movie is out in Europe and other not US places, which sort of explains why the game has been released. Maybe Alex is working on a review.
A first person shooter movie tie game based on a Hasbro board game.
In 2012, this is officially a thing.
Giant Bomb covers games that they want to cover and believe the vast majority of its user-base would want to be covered. They made a wise choice, unless they did a QL to purely mock its existence...
Sounds like a job for Alex Navarro...
I've heard that its a pretty generic FPS but it has a couple ideas that make it worth playing. I've also heard about 6-7hrs gameplay.

Has anyone accidentally played Battleship or heard of anyone who has?
I got a good laugh out of that, thank you sir!

What, really?
I'm tempted to play it when my library picks it up. It'll probably be worth playing if it's free, right?...Right?
Libraries carry games???
I can't imagine how many Mom's and Dad's unknowingly purchased/rented this game thinking they could have a fun family night with their kids with an updated version of the board-game classic.

I just saw this on the shelf at Blockbuster, and I was saddened by the lack of GB coverage of what is sure to be a "high-quality" movie tie-in from Activision. Has anyone accidentally played Battleship or heard of anyone who has? Hot scoops here please, I beg you.
Hold on the better question is where the fuck did you see a blockbuster?

Mine sure does! gets new released about a month late.
Crazy, I'm going to have to look into this.

Yeah that's something that happens. I think it's rather common.
Anyways, looking forward to a really bad Quick Look. Man, the movie looks AWFUL.

I've heard it's rather rare in the US, but I'm not sure.
Considering every single one of the dedicated movie rental stores in my city have been out of business in favor of Redbox and Netflix for a while now, I am wondering what kind of place you live in that it still has a blockbuster that is somehow still in business and not having a closeout sale or something. I did manage to pick up Shadows of the Damned for like $17 at one though, so that is something to commend them for.

This game is out? Isn't this kind of significantly before the film? When is that piece of crap coming out anyway?
The game is already out. They said that in the title of the thread, man.
I mean...you couldn't mean the movie...because that shit looks like the best stupid fun I've seen since Independence Day!
My Blockbuster closed down sometime last year. I would love it if it's literally the table game in videogame form.
This game needs two things:
A dedicated button that makes your character say "You sank my battleship!" (preferably right trigger / LMB)
Secondly, a gun that fires giant red pegs into the enemy, with different classes of enemies requiring differing numbers of hits, and the pegs forming perfect horizontal or vertical lines on their bodies.
If it has this, it's GOTY 201X, because nothing will beat it this decade.

Those still exist?
Shelves are having a resurgence right now.
I love the movie's website, because it has this twitter feed in the corner. "That Battleship movie look crazy!" "omg battleship looks so cool!!!" "Frickin excited!" "Battleship looks like it will be a good movie." "Just saw the preview for the movie Battleship. It looks pretty badass and intense to say the least." I could read these for hours. People actually think this movie is going to be good.
I looked up some gameplay trailers. It doesn't appear that you ever set foot on a battleship. Huh.
